I love cheap shopping
Since losing 50 lbs, I've lost many sizes and I hate to spend big money on
clothes that will be too big one of these days, so I've been buying my jeans, blazers, blouses, etc at Goodwill and Salvation Army. All are designer tags like Calvin, Ralph Loren, Chico etc and I didn't spend more that $3.99 for any single piece! When they get too big, I give them back to the same thrift shops. We all benefit. You should see my closet! |

I'm sure many of the nice things I gave away (that cost me a fortune, btw) are now being had for $4 a pop a the Goodwill. At least the new stuff I bought was much less expensive than what I paid in the big-man's store. |

Great idea! I just gave away all my size 8/10 silk blouses and virgin wool
dress pants to a charity for diabetes. Some thrifty women are going to find some nice stuff. :-) on 20 Aug 2004 03:09:47 GMT, (MEKIESS) wrote: Since losing 50 lbs, I've lost many sizes and I hate to spend big money on clothes that will be too big one of these days, so I've been buying my jeans, blazers, blouses, etc at Goodwill and Salvation Army. I'm sure many of the nice things I gave away (that cost me a fortune, btw) are now being had for $4 a pop a the Goodwill. At least the new stuff I bought was much less expensive than what I paid in the big-man's store. The last two weekends. I have gone to lots of thrift stores. Got real great bargains. Today I got 4 blouses, a suit jacket and slacks set, 2 slacks, 3 belts. Most of all these are name brand too. I payed 25.00 for it all. Last weekend, about the same. I have a wonderful wardrobe going now. I started in a size 26, and now am in a 18. Sometimes a 16. I also gave most of the clothing that no longer fit... I gave it all away to a Womens Shelter. The stuff was nice that I gave away, and expensive clothing. I gave it to Women who are starting over in life. Domestic violence victims. I like thrift stores, and yard sales. I buy things at Wal-Mart, and Fashion Bug, and then see others wearing the same clothing in the season. I like to be original. I dress with a sort of flair. Thrift stores..sometimes its a one of kind feeling with clothes. I seen some cool cool blouses, and really wanted them. But they were a size 10's and 12's. For awhile there too. I was going to thrift stores, buying clothing that ended up being too big. It took me time to get used to not being so big and overweight. |

Keep up the good work! I give away any of my business type clothing to the
Clothes Closet - a service of the YWCA - for women who are trying to get back in the job market, abused women, and women getting out of prison who are trying to get a new life. They take men's business clothing also. We're all benefiting |

They take men's business clothing also. We're all benefiting I just got some new summer clothes for my cruise at WalMart - they had a big sale on summer clothes and then I went to JC Penney - they were having a 70% off sale. Got a couple pair of Jeans (they fit and look nice) for $7.50 each and 2 pair of Chino pants ($20 each). The chino's were a size smaller than the size I was stuffed into (I should have been a size larger - but refused to admit it - so I stuffed myself in my old jeans). It was neat - I picked up the old size pants and tried them on and they were big so I picked up the next smaller size expecting them not to fit (I don't wear that size) - but they fit - I was in such a great mood. Brand new clothes and only spent a couple hundred for an almost all new wardrobe. I guess when I lose the next 25 I will have to buy more new stuff (maybe I'll donate what I just bought to a worthy reader in this group (what great motivation that would be for someone who lost weight and got some clothes) We could start a clothes swap here instead of giving them to good will.
