Default Food & Exercise -- 12/14/2003

Well, this was the third night in a row of overeating -- all planned,
but still too much. However, no more occasions are scheduled until
Christmas eve, so I'm going to try to be very observant until then
:-).

10:45 (home): 2 poached eggs on 1 slice whole wheat toast w/ 3 slices
melted f/f cheese

12:30 (out shopping): energy bar

3:30 (home): 1/2 of a frozen stuffed chicken breast thing

6:30 (Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, with the gang from the gym): 1 cup
lobster bisque; a few bites of DH's chopped salad; 7 oz. filet mignon
topped w/ 1 oz. blue cheese; 1 lobster tail w/ melted butter;
cheesecake; 10 oz. wine

Totals: 2063 calories (214 from wine), 81g fat (35%), 129g carbs
(25%), 149g protein (29%)

Exercise: Just a bit of housework and shopping.

Chris, I wonder if you agree with me that there's a huge difference
between planned overeating and the other sort. I find it much easier
to accept in advance that I'm going to be eating a bit off my WOE for
celebrations, and it's then much easier to get back on track straight
away.
When I eat off WOE for no other reason than that I gave in and fell
off the wagon, it can cause me a lot more difficulty.
I have faith in you and I know you'll get through the festive season
without too much damage. I'd be happy just to stand still for a
couple of weeks, and carry on losing afterwards, but things don't
always work out like that for me as I know to my cost.

Absolutely! I've been having planned "celebration" meals all along in
the 17 months I've been dieting. I decided that I was going to have
to adopt a WOE that I could follow for life, and there's no way that
I'm going to have life without these occasions. Because it's planned,
I have no problem getting back on track the next day. (Today, after 3
party nights in a row, it feels good to be eating modestly.)

I haven't really done this much lately, but when I have it's a bit
harder because I feel disappointed with myself. I never really have
trouble getting back on track, though. (Knock on wood :-). )

I'm pretty much planning on just maintaining for the rest of the
holiday season. Starting in the new year I'm going to cut my calories
just a bit and see what that does. I'll probably then settle for
whatever weight I can achieve that way. I'm pretty happy with where I
am now, honestly.

(Last night, while I ate lots, I think I looked pretty good :-) .)

Chris
