Two months ago, I purposely stopped exercising, partly
because I thought I couldn't feel any more improvement after
the first several months. With no appreciable change in
diet, I not only didn't lose any more weight, but I gained
one pound. But, it feels like I gained at least 10. My
clothes are tighter and I feel flabbier, not to mention
sluggish. Last week, I started up again. Damn was that
hard. Won't be doing that again.

Marsha -- That was no reason to stop. You can always get negative gains, if
you quit.

It was only part of the reason. I also wanted to see if
there was any verification of some posters' claims that you
don't need to exercise to lose weight. I suppose if I had
really cut calories a lot I would have lost some weight, but
still would have felt crappy. I'm proud of my ability to
get back on track without too much trouble.

Well, I never said I was a scientist, so my experiments will
never be written in any journals : )

You don't need to exercise to lose weight. However, losing weight while
doing the right kind of exercise has great benefit.

Good. But don't get off track as far as exercise is concerned -- and
especially not on purpose. Sometime **** happens and you'll have no
choice...
