Yes, that sounds quite healthy. Maybe also eat some chicken breast or fish sometimes, instead of ground beef? Berna (101.5/67.5/64 kg) -- ( )_( ) Berna M. If there's not a health or religious reason for avoiding chicken and fish, you might consider trying to learn to enjoy them. They are far healthier for you than ground beef. You can lose weight eating anything, though. It's simply a matter of consuming fewer calories than you burn. But you will not find a "name brand" diet that just includes ground beef. If you don't feel you can reduce calories without some guidance, you might want to look at Weight Watchers, which allows you to eat anything provided you keep your total "points" within a prescribed range. Personally, I lost 130 lbs. by tracking my caloric intake and exercise -- no name brands or books. Chris 262/130s/130s started dieting July 2002, maintaining since June 2004 |

A good primer on Eating 101 can be found at http://www.stumptuous.com/weights.html I've personally found that the most important thing is to examine what I'm eating. Track your foods at www.fitday.com and see what you're currently eating NOW, before you change anything. See if that gives you any insight... I bet it will. My basic rule of thumb is to try to eat a balanced diet, i.e., get 1/3 of my macronutrients from proteins, carbs and healthy fats. Healthy fats are the kind that come from seeds and fish, i.e., peanutbutter and tuna fish, not cheese and beef. If you must eat ground beef a good trick is to drain it in a colander after cooking it and wash it off with hot water. A lot of people can substitute turkey for ground beef. If you eat it in patty form you might try Boca Burgers. My experience as an overweight woman is that a diet high in carbs (most vegetarian diets) was a very poor way to try to fuel my body. I lose the most fat while being sated and energetic if I try to make sure my carbs don't go above 50% of my calories. Dally 244/165/155 |
