Default Nice round numbers - 180 pounds

I just had to post this as it was the goal weight which I
had set for May which I did not quite make. No big deal
that I didn't make it then but as it is a nice round number
I wanted to make note of it. Goals are goals.

I have no new pictures to post yet; I won't update these
until I get to 179 which will likely still be two more
weeks. I'm not losing too fast at this point but I am not
really trying to lose weight now so much as I am trying to
get my exercise program under control, teach my body that I
am going to work it hard, and try to zero in on what will be
my maintenance calorie and carb levels will be.

The exercise is going well and it appears that I am putting
back on some of the muscle that I sorely miss but, until I
have a body fat analysis done for benchmarking purposes I am
really only guessing at this. That stated, I have added
about 3/4" to my arms since I started lifting again and, as
I also stated before, I have taken off a full 2 inches from
my waist in the last two months without showing any
appreciable difference on the scale.) There is visible
difference in terms of muscle definition so something is
working. Darned if I'm not starting to look good in the
mirror in my birthday suit, at least not bad for my age I
think.

That's all. Nothing too controversial.

Have a good evening.

In my case you will, at best, get to settle for me in a
bathing suit. Of course, my wife is trying to convince me
that I would look good in a Speedo. Hmmm.

Getting close.

I'm not sure that I will maintain, or even want to maintain,
at 175. I'm quite comfortable at 180. What I expect to
happen will be that I reach about 175 and when the
inevitable water weight comes back on stabilize around 180.
I can see radical swings in weight over any 3 day period
with no discernable difference in feeling or appearance.
I've found that, when I add back the carbs above CCLL I
immediately gain or retain water to the tune of 6-7
pounds...and I mean inside of 24 hours. I knew this would
happen (learned it here in fact) but I did not know how much
the water weight would be for me. If I want it off it comes
back off quickly, within 3 days or so, when I go back down
below CCLL.

The important thing to know, for me anyway, is that I appear
to stabilize after that initial 6-7 pounds of water is
retained. And, though I don't claim to fully understand the
physiology of this, knowing what this water weight swing is
makes the apparent weight gain much less disconcerting.

In any case, my final maintenance weight will certainly be
contingent upon how diligent and ultimately successful I am
with my exercise.

Later.

Thank you Gary.

If I recall correctly you are now about a month into
low-carbing for weight loss. How are things going for you?
