Default Meridia and street drugs

I take Meridia once-a-day 15mg... I also took a half a pill of "E" or
ecstasy, on the weekend.

I heard that some of the combinations of these kinds of pills can be
dangerous. I know they can also be dangerous alone - but I'm a little
concerned that that one half-tablet of "E" could have now given me the heart
valve disease that fen/phen caused. Is it possible?

I also lost 7 lb dancing after that night... incidentally... maybe a good
combo, not a bad one? Joke.

Should I be worried about this one-time indulgence?

M./Toronto.

Ecstasy and Meridia are both amphetamines which are stimulants. They have a
very powerful effect on the heart and blood vessels and ecstasy, in
particular, has been modified to exert a very powerful effect on certain
neurotransmitters. (Did you find that you just loved everyone and
everything on ecstasy?)

Taking them together is a very dangerous combination. Taking Ecstasy alone
is also not such a good thing. Since it was never made or approved for any
medical use, studies are just now coming out about long term effects. It
seems that the high is caused from putting out serotonin in huge quantities
which depletes it. Depression and lethargy are common after an Ecstasy
trip.

I am trying to provide objective information but part of me wants to scream,
"What could you be thinking?" Why don't you ask these questions before you
do something like this in the future. You are lucky you didn't have a fatal
arrythmia or a stroke. By the way, may I conclude that since you post to a
diet group and have Meridia prescribed that you are also overweight, thus
further increasing your risk of a cardiovascular incident?

Please respect yourself more in the future.
