Default Question about Ketosis

I have been doing this WOE since Novemer 10th, but realized that I was not
doing it correlty about Mid December and restarted. Since mid December I
have pretty much been in Ketosis the entire time, and not just a trace but
very deep.

I started exercising on Christmas Eve, and have not missed a day since. I do
the treadmill for 25-30 minutes one day, and then a short workout of the
Total Body 5000 Home gym the next day, sort of like weight training.

I have lost 3.75 inches as of mid December when I took the measurements. I
will take them again on Tuesday.

Anyway, during all of this time, I have lost 7 pounds total. There have been
days when I would gain, and then days that I lose.

What I am trying to find out is that if my body is in ketosis, should I
continue on as I am doing now, even though the weight on the scale is very
slow? Even on the days that I cheated, Christmas and New Years Eve, I was
back in deep ketosis the next day. I was having a problem getting my
calories up. Fitday says that I should have about 1550 BMR calories per day,
and up until the last week or so I was not hitting that mark. I have made an
effort to get at least 1400 calories per day since then.

I would appreciate any helpful comments.

Default Question about Ketosis

If you're not losing after a week, cut your calories by 200. Wait another
week and repeat if needed. Don't listen to these kooks here that tell you to
eat more. They're just plain wrong. Stick to low carb and watch your
calories.

One exception - for some people (like me), they lose more weight if
they eat more (or the same) and instead exercise more to create the
caloric deficit.

Remember, it's not just "calories in" that count. It's the difference
between calories in and calories out. For some folks, it's more
effective to change calories out.

Thanks. And by the way, JC, there is no need for you to reply. I have you in
my blocked senders list. I got tired of reading your negative comments to
everyone.

Default Question about Ketosis

To tell a fat person to go ahead and eat more, that you'll just make up for
it by exercising, is pretty much strolling towards fantasyland.

If you are only taking in 1400 calories and losing inches...it sounds like
you're doing it right. Don't be concerned with what the scale tells you if
you are losing inches. You may find you need to add calories as you exercise
more. If your BMR is 1550, and you are now adding exercise, you will need
the calories for energy. You don't want your body to turn to your muscle
tissue for energy. As for your ketosis question, being in ketosis is fine,
just keep your water intake high to flush it out.

I'm not fat, and I do know overweight people who were severely
undereating. It caused nutritional and metabolic problems. They had
to up their calories to a healthy level regardless of weight loss or
exercise, just to get enough nutrients to stay healthy.

And some people (like ME) fare better by emphasizing exercise rather
than diet. If I eat less, my body just burns less to compensate.
Dieting really doesn't do anything for me, I already eat below my RMR.
I only lose weight when I exercise.

I've met fat people who claimed they were eating too little, but I've never
met a seriously fat person who was actually eating too little.

Just because you've never met them, doesn't mean they don't exist.
