Default Terrible Headache for 3 days

Hi,

The first few days of induction I had a terrible headache, then I felt
better than I had ever felt in my life for a few days, then I went to
feeling good. This lasted about 4 weeks, then 3 days ago I decided to
go back to induction (cutting out jello, nuts and the occasional
cheat) and I have had a permanent headache again for 3 days. I wake
up with it and go to sleep with it. Tylenol doesn't work. I feel
like it has something to do with the low carb diet I am on. Anyone
have any insight?

Thanks!
Wendy

If you're at about 20 g per day, try increasing the level by say 10 g per
day until the headache stops. You don't really need to be at induction
level carbs anyway.

It's probably your body detoxing. Anytime I start a new diet, that happens
to me. Funny though, I haven't gotten one 'yet' and just finished my second
day on SBD!! Oh I hope I didn't jinx myself!
Peace, Bette

I read somewhere that a drop in blood sugar can trigger a migraine (of
course, lots of other things can trigger them as well). I believe that's
what happens to me, and maybe you have the same problem. If so, I can
sympathize with you. All I want to do is lay in bed with no lights or
sound. If yours are anything like that, you might want to get a
prescription from your doctor for some migraine medicine. If you feel this
type of "headache" developing, if you take the medicine (in my case,
Imitrax) at the first sign of it, you can probably avoid the migraine.

Anyway, I had a terrible headache the first day of induction. After that I
was fine, until right after Christmas. I had gone off Atkins for three
days, and when I went back on it I got migraines three days in a row. As
you described, I would have a terrible headache all day long and neither
aspirin or Tylenol helped. Anyway, I have found that the migraine pill is
more effective. You might want to talk with your doctor because these
extreme headaches you're describing could be migraines. You don't need to
suffer unnecessarily.

I get the same headache! Only excedrin PM takes it away. I think it has
something to do with the sleep aid they put in. I am on day 2 and my
headache is back.

If you have switched to decaf - you may be reacting to that. Hang in there.
Try going half and half - half regular and half decaf. If it persists, see
your doctor.

Thanks everyone! The headache is at least giving me a break. I now
have it on and off throughout the day. I will mention it to the
doctor next week. It might be the decafe coffee, I had never thought
about that. Thanks!

Wendy
