Hi Steven! Welcome to the group. I'm sure someone else has already
responded with some solutions to your intestinal issues, but I just wanted
to say hi!

Hi Steven, welcome to the group! Are you eating low-carb bars, shakes or other
manufactured low-carb products that contain sugar alcohols such as maltitol,
lactitol, xylotol, etc.? Sugar alcohols can have a STRONG laxative effect on
some people. If so, the good news is that you are probably not ingesting much in
the way of carbs from them (the "net effective carb" rule applies) -- the bad
news is that you are spending the day on the toilet, cramping, running out of TP,
stinking up the bathroom, and probably have a sore tushy by this point. Some
people can handle some sugar alcohols and some can't. Some can handle one kind,
but not the another -- it's a crapshoot (literally).

You may also have something else going on, though, such as a virus, food
poisoning or allergy to some new food. Most people tend to get constipation when
they first start low-carbing, so this IS unusual. If you ARE eating a lot of
processed foods -- KNOCK IT OFF! Seriously, it's best to try to stick to the
basics when you first start low-carbing, get through the "carb flu" and have a
good handle on it. After a month or so, you can try new things one at a time to
see how they affect you. NOTE: If something with sugar alcohols does NOT cause
digestive upset, chances are that you are absorbing more carbs than the "net"
claimed on the label.

Hansen's has diet soda sweetened with Splenda, as I understand Atkins,
these are better than the aspartame (sp?) sweetened ones.

I'd second (or maybe fifth by now) the comments about sugar alcohols.
They certainly mess up my gut.

"Steven Summers" Yep im eating all my veggies, lettuce and peppers etc

Lots of eggs and fresh meat

Im doing 20mins on rowing machine daily, well i was until i started

feeling
ill.

Steven, you wrote that you just started last Monday. Today is Sunday. And
yet you are now writing that you are eating "all my veggies, lettuce and
peppers, etc." and drinking soda pop. This is NOT the Atkins Diet. If you
didn't read the book, you need to go back and re-read it. The first two
weeks of the diet are called "Induction" and what you are doing is...not
following the diet.
