I looked for the Z-bars Sunday before last, so maybe they have come in since then. Maybe it is good that I can only have chocolate once a week at the very most (otherwise, I get headaches). I like a pretty dark chocolate, which can be good from a carb point of view--if I go with the real thing. I guess the things that have to be considered a flavor and mouthfeel (which = satisfaction) carbs calories I wonder why that cooling effect causes you to want more? Do you sense that with ALL sugar alcohols? The only one I've seen people comment on in that regard is erythritol. -- Jean B. |

I definitely sense a cooling mouthfeel with maltitol and, to a lesser extent, lacitol. I don't think that the craving was set off because I enjoyed the bar, since I enjoy the rich, dark chocolate flavor of the Lindt much, much more than I do the faint chocolate flavor of the Zcarb bar, yet it doesn't set off cravings. There's something about that cool tingliness. I noticed the same effect with Velamints. Got some Z-bars from LowCarbOutlet.com. Just tried the Chocolate with
peanut butter. I have to agree- it's the best low-carb candy I've tried (although I have not tried the Lindt.) Maltitol and lactitol put me through some terrible GI perturbations.
