DAY THREE OF ALL MEAT
Here is an update to my all meat diet experiment:
I am going through withdrawal from caffeine, aspartame, etc and having headaches. However, I feel lighter over all. I cant make judgements about mood or feelings until after the withdrawal period. I have been doing coffee for years! I have cut out seasonings except for salt. So far today I have eaten: Chicken - light and dark meat 2 king crab legs 9 ounce ribeye with all the fat :-) I do notice I feel better when I have the fattier foods. You definitely cannot do this diet and keep it low fat. I am allowing myself 2 decaf teabags as teabags contain .008 or so of carb. But I have even cut out seasonings and egg whites due to carbohydrate content. I am determined to show that you can be healthier than you ever dreamed, and disease free, on a NO carbohydrate diet. I do believe that your body is resistant to developing illnesses and diseases without the presence of carb. I also think your brain will function better and you will have more energy and not have depression or mental problems without carb. But it is just a hypothesis - we'll have to give it longer than 3 days. It has been hard not for me to run for a diet soda but I really believe in this. I encourage any constructive criticism, questions or comments. Please try not to flame - if you aren't interested in my study, just don't read the thread. :-) Also, I am taking vitamins and for those of you worried about my lack of fiber, dont - I have pooped the most gigantic poops of my life - 2 times yesterday and 2 times so far today :-) :-) C.E.D. |

What is your motivation to do this? Whether you succeed or fail makes no difference because you are only one person. You can prove nothing. I'm neither for or against your doing this, I'm just trying to understand your motivation. |

I would also like to know your motivations or reasons for deciding to go on
this particular diet. But mainly I'm concerned about your health. I assume your brain is important to you. It can only use carbohydrate and can't use fat or protein, you have a store of carbs in your liver and this is probably what you'll run on for a few days or weeks, but when that's gorn there's nothing to replace it. A no carb diet isn't just madness, it's dangerous. The mistake most people make is that they don't discriminate complex carbs (Whole grains, potatoes, brown rice etc.) from simple carbs (sugar, refined flour or baked goods i.e. white bread, refined rice), it is the simple carbs that are bad for you, but the complex carbs are vital for health in the right proportions. Vitamins don't contain any fibre (generally), they are vitamins which is something else. Vegetables contain a mixture cleansing juices and fibre, vitamins and minerals and carbohydrates and proteins that are essential for good health, tablets just can't replace them. You probably will feel relaxed on the diet but only because your body has to draw every last bit of blood from your muscles and brain to cope with digesting all that meat which puts a lot of strain on the body. I eat mainly vegetables & salads, beans, lentils, natural whole complex carbs, water, nuts, seeds and a little low sugar fruit (please don't badger me about not having much fruit, it works) nothing much else does in my mouth. I never ever get a hint of flu or a cold, I never ever have a headache, I don't have bad breath, I don't get infections, I have mental clarity, feel calm, relaxed and have loads of energy when I want it and sometimes I just bounce around for no particular reason. If your being serious, I urge you to reconsider what your doing to yourself. If your not seriously doing this then consider what effect your post could have on inexperienced dieters. Nick. A no carb diet isn't just madness, it's dangerous. I guess the bottom line is that I disagree with what you just said. First off, I am very serious about this. This is not a put on or something to draw attention. I believe very strongly in this, I also believe many people could benefit from an extremely low carb diet, and further, I believe that carbs are the cause of disease. Are these opinions or fact? Only time will tell and experiments like these...no one can vouch for a low carb diet or a no carb diet because there arent that many studies of people who did it for 10 years plus....of the studies out there, they are ALL favorable toward low-no carb making you amazingly healthy, disease free, thin, etc. Last night, I felt clearer than I have in a long time and I was flying around the room. If that continues, you can bet your booty I will be staying on this diet. Vegetables contain a mixture cleansing juices and fibre, vitamins and minerals and carbohydrates and proteins that are essential for good health, tablets just can't replace them. there are 3 macronutrients: protein, fat and carb. Carb is the only one that you do not need to live. That means without protein, you die. Without fat, you die. Without carb, you do not die. We have been so hornswaggled by Kellogs, Nabisco and all the diet and food insdustries making millions off our sugar addictions, and, subsequent illnesses. You do not need carb to live or live well! There is no such thing as a good carb vs. bad carb. Carbs are sugar - different kinds and amounts of sugar, but still sugar. Your body processes every carb that way - whether it is a bean, a grain, a veggie or an eclair. I dont want sugar going in my mouth. Sugar is what causes 90% of diseases - research on it if you dont believe me. Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease and CANCER - all cannot exist without you eating sugar. You probably will feel relaxed on the diet but only because your body has to draw every last bit of blood from your muscles and brain to cope with digesting all that meat which puts a lot of strain on the body. No offense but give me a break. Number one, you are a man. Mens bodies can easily deal with more carbs than women. There are a lot of people who can get away with eating that stuff and feel fine - I am saying you still could be one of the statistics and end up with a heart attack at 50 from all that sugar you eat. If your being serious, I urge you to reconsider what your doing to yourself. If your not seriously doing this then consider what effect your post could have on inexperienced dieters. Nick. I am serious. I hope everyone looks into what I am doing, looks into low carb if not no carb and sees the disease curing, weight loss, fantastic health possibilities of this diet. As far as my study goes - it is simply to show that you do not need carbs to live or be healthy. Thank you for your post :-) C.E.D |

Your body manufactures the glucose it needs from protein. Look up gluconeogenesis. |

A no carb diet isn't just madness, it's dangerous. Brain can function, at least to a great extent, on "ketones", which are products of fat metabolism. Thanks, I'll look into that ) The mistake most people make is that they don't discriminate complex carbs (Whole grains, potatoes, brown rice etc.) from simple carbs (sugar, refined flour or baked goods i.e. white bread, refined rice), it is the simple carbs If anything, the carbohydrates in potatoes are no less "refined" for the purposes of our digestion, than, say, flour. Do you mean refined or whole wheat flour? p.s. for the record I don't personally eat wheat or potatoes for a few different reasons. that are bad for you, but the complex carbs are vital for health in the right proportions. Vitamins don't contain any fibre (generally), they are vitamins which is something else. Vegetables contain a mixture cleansing juices and fibre, vitamins and minerals and carbohydrates and proteins that are essential for good health, tablets just can't replace them. I have not had any colds either, since going on a diet and losing weight. Could be related to weight loss and better health in general. Note that for the most part of my dieting history, I was also eating "complex carbs", although not as much as you. How long have you bean on the diet out of interest? How much carbs do I eat? If your being serious, I urge you to reconsider what your doing to yourself. If your not seriously doing this then consider what effect your post could have on inexperienced dieters. You know, what Proud2LoveCats is doing is not something I would do myself, but she is making it pretty clear that it is a personal experiment and not a recommendation to others. I had doubts about her intentions because it sounded fairly extreme and against a lot of what I've come to know about being healthy, I'm not that good on the science, but I produce the results. I retract my statement about the effect her post could have on others, it was based on the assumption that she was just attention grabbing. She is not responsible for how other react to her post, the readers are responsible for their own actions. Regards, Nick. |
