breakfast cereal is a joke...
"VirtualGuy" wrote in message ... Yes, alot of it is crap - especially the kids cereals. Do I dare ask what people think about my current breakfast staples - Rice Krispies and Shreddies? No sugar added and consumed with skim milk. Cheers! VirtualGuy -- ************************************************** ***** VirtualGuy - Edmonton, Alberta, Canada ************************************************** ***** Hi Alex, I was just wondering about you the other day. It's great to see that you still read the group. How's things going for you? Your breakfast is a lot better than a lot of other choices. Rice Krispies was my favorite when I was a kid. Beverly |

VirtualGuy rears his head once again!
I was just wondering about you the other day. It's great to see that
you still read the group. How's things going for you? Hi Beverly (and other ASD friends)! To be quite honest, I'm not sure how to respond to your question. I thought about it a bit and came to the following conclusion. Some things are good, some things are bad, and some are neither. So, oVerall, let's just say that I'm fighting the good fight and surviving. In terms of my dieting battles, unfortunatley, it has not been a losing battle for the longest time. I haven't been able to get my determination or motivation in gear to go anywhere. I mostly lurk in ASD for the most part these days. I've been coming in, annoucing my new resolve and then quickly vanishing so much over the past two years in here that I'm likely going to have the ASD revolving door named after me! I'm not going to be doing that this time. You know...It's hard to believe that I've been participating here for the past 4 years. I first came to ASD in September 1999! If I were a total skeptic, I would say that it's got me nothing as I'm no further than I was back then. However, I can't say that. I had my run of the good times and the bad ones. I've learned a great deal, met/corresponded with lots of good people, and never gave up. So, that's worth something. I joined the YMCA back in July along with irishcrm. However, due to an unfortunate incident, I put my membership on hold. On the very first day that I went to the gym, my locker was broken into (cut lock) and I had my cell phone and money stolen. In addition to that, the YMCA was still completing renovations. So, I've used those two items as excuses not to go. However, it's now 3 months later. The renovations are done and I'm less ticket off about the theft. So, I'm going to try getting back into a workout routine again. I'm also going to sign up for a 12 week program that is supposed to help new comers get into the habit. It certainly can't hurt to have a couple allies in my corner. The most that I can ask of myself is to do things better today than I did them yesterday. So, that's how I'm approaching things. Cheers! how many carbs/sugar? Rice Krispies - 1.25 cups - Calories 124 cals - Total Fats 0.4 g - Sugars - None - Carbohydrates 28.5 g Shreddies - .75 cup - Calories - 110 - Fat - 0.6g - Sugars - 4.8g - Carbohydrates - 25.0g Aside from the carb factor (Yes, I know I'm a carb addict), this isnt' too bad compared to others. You know as well as anyone else that you've got to get the motivation inside you before you're going to be ready to "fight the good fight" again. However, being here means that you're thinking about it, and that's good. So please keep stopping by and keep it in the realm even if you're not ready to go there yet. I've told this story many times, but I'll tell it again for you. In 1989 I lost 50 pounds and then gained it all back three years later plus another 40. I didn't try to lose weight again until 1996. On some level I was afraid to try it again, because I figured I'd regain another 40 on top of the 90 pounds if I failed again the next time, and then I'd be totally messed up! But eventually I couldn't take it anymore and I tried again. And on November 4 it will be my 6th anniversary of maintaining an 86 pounds weight loss. So if it can happen to me, it can happen to you. You just have to be ready. And we'll be here when you are. Good luck, and hang in there. I'm not going to be doing that this time. That door will always be open, Alex. Just remember that most of us have been through that door, too. I'm just happy to see that you're still thinking about joining us and you've taken steps such as joining a gym. When you're ready you'll know it and I'll be glad to see you back. I would have asked how much sugar and fiber. :-) |

So, oVerall, let's just say that I'm fighting the good fight and surviving. Well Hey there VG! :-) Just remembere, there is no revolving door on ASD. The door is always open! (unless you are a troll. ) Ya know, I never bring personal items into the Y. Actually, come to think of it, I've never even been in the locker room. :-) I go in w/ my membership card, car keys, a bottle of water and a towel. I've been meaning to get one of those spiral scrunchie things for my keys so I can put them around my water bottle. Glad to hear you've signed up for a 12 week something. Hopefully that will instill a good habit for you and help you be successful. And, I'm assuming since you mentioned irshcrm joining with you thta you 2 are still together. |
