.and that is because he is a man of character and knows who HIS "Commander

Just because a man says he is getting his direction from God doesn't mean he
actually is. Maybe he is just playing to a theme.

In fact the constant reminders we are being given that Bush is such a 'good'
Christian make me distrust him even more because it looks to me as if he is
misusing his faith. I feel in this case its being touted more as a political
point than a religious conviction.

I believe in God, I consider myself a Christian. I don't hide it but nor do I
announce it at every opportunity simply to reap benefits from it. I don't think
a person's faith should be used for the wrong purposes.

I think a Christian should get on with the business of living a Christian life
instead of saying they are a Christian to get ahead in life.

Debra

I understand, Debra, and much of that is due to the fact that he is a
public figure (why we hear it so much). And you are right, just
because someone says they hear from God doesn't make it so. The Bible
warns us to be careful and not take everyone at their word. So you are
good to be cautious. But at the same time, if you are a believer and
follower of Christ, then it is a part of you. It is not like a coat
you can put on and take off (frankly, I get a little concerned about
those who can). It is what and who you are. I don't think President
Bush has reaped many benefits from his confession of Christ in his
public life. In fact, I think it has been quiet the opposite. He is
hated and ridiculed by the religious and secular alike, but if he is a
real Christian he knows his reward is not here, but in Heaven for
standing up for what he believes and not waivering.

You and I only see the surface. God judges the heart. Though I do
trust that the president is the one I have more confidence in, my
ultimate trust is in the Lord. No matter who wins the election, God is
the one in control. He is my hope and peace in a dangerous and
uncertain world.

Btw, if you were to start announcing to the world that you are a
Christian, you better make up your mind to be a true blue one because
that's when your opposition will start. Our reward in Heaven is far
greater than anything we stand to gain here.
