Debunking
MYTH: _____________ is not low carb.
REALITY: Read the label. Subtract fiber (NOT sugar alcohols) from carbs. If what's left is a low number, it's low carb. This is called math. I can nuke a half a cup of flaxmeal with some cream and water, and call it "cereal." Does that make it high carb? Hardly. MYTH: You can't lose weight eating ______________. REALITY: Do you work out, or do you sit at a desk all day? Do you carry a baby around all day like me? Different people can lose weight eating different carb levels. MYTH: If you're eating ______, you're not really trying to lose weight. REALITY: Are your clothes getting looser? Then you're losing weight. Period. MYTH: Ice cream is what made you fat in the first place. REALITY: Nope, overeating is what made you fat in the first place. MYTH: You're "a moron." REALITY: Only if you believe the opinion of people who've never met you. |

MYTH: Ice cream is what made you fat in the first place. REALITY: Nope, overeating is what made you fat in the first place. But it's pretty hard -- or impossible -- to get fat eating salads with no dressing, but very easy to get fat eating ice cream. First, ice cream is very caloric. Second, it causes a blood sugar response that leads to your wanting to eat more. I rarely eat ice cream now -- I save it for very special treat days, like a birthday. I personally cannot lose weight while trying to eat snacks like ice cream. -- Bob in CT Remove ".x" to reply |

I personally cannot lose weight while trying to eat snacks like ice cream. Nor can I, but I think Dave's point is that is not true for everybody. I have a tendency to binge a bit on many sugary foods, so I find it safest to just not eat them at all. But oddly, there are some sugary things I can eat in small quantities without a problem. Likewise, foods that should be OK on LC, but they are triggers for me, personally. I know others eat them without a problem. Really, the OP probably doesn't have you-know-who killfiled and is just up to here with the kneejerk (jerk being oh-so-appropriate in this context), mindless responses and is letting off a little steam. It really is true... there is no "bad food" or specific food that makes everyone fat. It's more to do with quantities and things that trigger overeating or binge-type consumption. And there seems to be a lot of individual variability there. HG |

And, you're right, this is variable and on a person-by-person basis. -- Bob in CT Remove ".x" to reply |
