Did he say it was systemic?

Yes. What does that mean exactly??

The prednisone will make you VERY hungry!!!!

I hope the rashes start getting better and stop popping up.

Camille

Thanks,
Curt

Well my eye was almost swollen shut and I ended up seeing my doctor. He
stated that it is in my system and my body will most likely have the
rashes
pop up all over the place. I can't remember the term used. Anyway he

put
me on Prednisone (steroid) for 9 days. This is day three and he was
right,
the rashes just keep popping up everywhere. I put everything I own in

the
way and even washed inside my car. My dog was bathed just to make sure

I
didn't pet him with the damn oil from the ivy.

I don't like taking this drug. I am way too awake (jittery) and have
trouble sleeping without having a few drinks. I am hungry all the time
and
it isn't just some little huger spell. I am HUNGRY!

The rashes are all over me, but my face finally is not as swollen.

Now to make this on topic.... I am off the diet for a few days. I just
don't care and really don't want to deal with the hunger. It is only a
few
days and not the end of the world. I will be back on track when it is
over.
I am not eating sweets due to how awake I am at least.

Take care,
Curt

Yeah, this is what I am thinking. I am going to try to get back on today.
I am taking 1/3 less of the pills now. I am a little on edge and moody as
hell. Only 4 more days after today. I don't like taking this crap, but I
am starting to get better.

Thanks Roger. Took a bike ride at night a couple nights ago. It was light
up night in Pittsburgh. What a great time. Did over 30 miles for a night
ride. It was fun, but I got a flat and hit a railroad crossing an went
down. It wasn't too bad though and didn't ruin my night.

Enjoy,
Curt

I am lucky not to have to take that in such large doses. Wow, I would not
want that!

I took that steroid a few years ago, it was a nightmare! I had an hour
infusion for 5 days and then had to be weaned of the stuff for the next 30
days or so.
I couldn't sleep more than 2-3 hours a night and I was so hungry. I was
warned by everyone that the drug would make me gain weight and bloat. I

am
an avid low carber, so I decided not to let myself gain any weight,

instead
of laying awake all night long I went to the gym. I was a rare case I

guess,
I lost about 10 lbs and put on a lot of muscle mass.

Good luck Curt.

Thanks Jenny. Being that I am only on it for 9 days, I am not worried about
all that. I already feel a little better and am down 1/3rd of my beginning
doses.

Curt,

My son has a poison ivy reaction that gets so bad he has to take

prednisone
and very high doses of it, at that. If he doesn't take it early in the
process he ends up looking, literally, like a tree covered with red bark

and
it can take five months to clear up!

That said, the problem with prednisone is that really messes up your

insulin
and blood sugar. It can also push marginal beta cells over the edge and
permanently screw up your blood sugar. For most people, blood sugar will
return to normal after the prednisone is out of the system, but it's worth
keeping an eye on your blood sugar afterwards because for a few of us, it
doesn't. I am pretty sure that it was a course of prednisone that pushed

me
from being hypoglycemic to being a full-fledged diabetic. People with
diabetes who take prednisone can see their control permanently worsen.

Why is prednisone used then? Wouldn't cortisol also work, and be less
toxic?
