It's secret is probably caffeine.

I LOVE Red Bull! The sugar free is tasty and gives me enough of a jolt (lots
of caffeine) to keep going. There's also added nutrients, though I'm not
sure what or how much. Since I don't drink, I'll have one of these in place
of a cocktail going out at night.

Since I am not sensitive to caffeine (I can drink 3 cups of coffee and
go to bed), I don't drink it for its supposed "jolt" effect. Rather,
I simply love the taste. I do, however, think that it is quite
addictive, so unless you don't mind paying out the butt for the stuff
indefinitely - DON'T GET STARTED. Don't say I didn't warn you.

They taste horrible, just another fad drink.

It said on the can not to drink more than 5 in one day. So when I was
working nightshift at Coles (ie. free food) I drank 25 in one night, plus a
couple of Jolt creaming sodas. I was a little jittery but that's about it. I
didn't die.
