Frustrated
I think the electric chair was because I became lazy.
No, I am lazy. But I'm trying to be less lazy. "CarbAddict" wrote in message ... From: Mary Hogan (Tue, 20 Jul 2004 12:14:28 -0400) MsgId: I'm starting slowly on the exercise because I have been sedentary for too long. I'm going to a big superstore every day, parking further away, and walking instead of using the electric chair. I do lean on my cart and stop frequently so my goal is to stop less until I don't stop at all. That's a good initial goal. It won't do much in the way of burning calories (so don't give yourself extra food as a reward for doing it), but it is a necessary step on your road to better conditioning. I also have been walking up and down the basement stairs once a day for a week. I will increase it 2X next week. My initial thought was that I hope this is safe for you considering that you said you normally need an electric chair to make it across a flat parking lot. Don't focus on the difficulty of the task. What you're after is an elevated heart rate for longer and longer periods of time, as in your first example. You also want to avoid setbacks (physically or emotionally). When you're able to do something for at least 20-30 minutes, then you can look for something more difficult to do. Exercise is the coolest. As much as people might think effort is the #1 ingredient, my experience tells me patience and consistency are #1 and #2, with effort being #3. The effort is only a drag if you're not patient and consistent. Otherwise, your body will grow into the exercise. -----= Posted via Newsfeeds.Com, Uncensored Usenet News =----- http://www.newsfeeds.com - The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! -----== Over 100,000 Newsgroups - 19 Different Servers! =----- |
