Eddie Type 2 I minimize the eating of processed foods. I have, however, eaten low carb tortillas, ketchup, and chocolat milk. For the latter, it goes bad before I can finish it. Peanut butter is good. The rest, I use very sparingly and I try to avoid anything with sugar alcohols, particularly maltitol, which does not get along with me. -- Bob in CT Remove ".x" to reply |

Which are fake carbs?
Prior to deciding that I would start a low-carb life style, as a diabetic,
all of these foods listed were a god-send for me in order to help control my BG readings. It's going to be tough to give them up........So eating some of these wouldn't amount to what low-carbing is all about? I mean, if after induction, couldn't some of these be eaten once in while and still lose weight? I guess I am one of the lucky ones, sugar alcohols and malitol do not affect my BG readings or my system. Which are fake carbs?
It is different for everyone, but here is how I look at it...
"Eddie Type 2" wrote in message ... Are these "good" or "bad" or "fake" carbs? Which should we stay away from? low-carb bread? Atkins low-carb ice cream bars? Atkins low-carb ice cream? All no's. low-carb milk? Don't know. low-carb chocolate milk? low-carb Special K cereal? low-carb Hershey Chocolate Bars? low-carb Atkins shakes? Smart-carb ice cream bars? No's. Kraft low-carb salad dressings? Most dressings are fine, so I see no point, but I guess okay. low-carb beer? All lite beers are low carb beer, but I don't think beer is a good idea on a regular basis if you really want to lose weight. low-carb barbeque sauce? low-carb ketchup? low-carb peanut butter? If you must, but I don't. low-carb pasta? sugar-free jello? sugar-free pop? low-carb tortillas? No. chicken wings with hot sauce? This is fine and I am not sure why it is on the list. Good stuff!
