My doc told me that Prozac is weight-neutral and that is the drug she likes

take it for depression and have relief of symptoms. I think my success
speaks to the fact that it Can be weight-neutral. Best wishes to you. I know
that the med has made all the difference to my life. I would never have made
it this far without the medication. so give it some good thought, nobody but
you, your doc, and your pharmacist will know and 2 of you are basically
sworn to secrecy regarding your prescriptions.

Gee, I have heard that Prozac causes weight gain. Wellbutrin is
one AD that is not supposed to do that.

I had a diet doctor put me on prozac to speed up weight loss. I thought it
was helpful, and I was certainly losing at a good clip.

But side effects are weird and vary widely.

I think it's probably a personal thing. May just be a case of trying
one and seeing what works. I've just gone back on Aropax. It didn't
cause weight gain last time, or any side effects (other than a dry
mouth).

Oh Lord Have Mercy! I Hate the dry mouth! Elavil here. Mine hasn't
affected my weight either.

Talk to your doctor. Please. What you have described is classic

clinical
depression. You don't have to feel like this. I firmly believe, from
everything you have said, that this is one of the big reasons you have
reached a plateau, stalled or whatever. Negative mental and spiritual
energy have just as much an effect as the positives do.

Thanks Angela. I know some ADs are better than others as far as affecting
weight or weight loss. Which would be best for not causing weight gain or
any other nasty side-effects? I guess I should talk all this over with my
doc next time I see her too.

If you want to see your doc armed with some info and questions, try doing a
search for anti-depressant + weight.

My mom has a book, can't for the life of me remember the name, of "very"
low
impact, "very" non-invasive stretching exercises that has helped her
tremendously. I'll call her tomorrow and get the title and let you know.

Here it is:

Good luck.

I take Effexor because it's supposed to be good for people in
chronic pain (and certainly my perception of my pain is less now
than it was before I started on it). I've also lost weight taking it.

Some psychiatrists here in the USA are starting to prescribe mild
amphetamines for people who are on anti-depressants but still having
problems with lethargy or apathy while taking them. The combination
can get better results than an anti-depressant alone.

The best thing to do, of course, is talk to your doctor who is
familiar with your history. Don't settle for a smaller improvement
than you actually need to live a happy, active life!
