Toasting's effect on carbs????
Since the unfortunate demise of Atkins bread and bagels (which
basically priced themselves out of the market), I've had to scrounge around for other types of LC bread to use for breakfast (with whipped cream cheese or sausage) or for a sandwich to take to lunch. Pepperidge Farm makes a "Carb Smart" bread which is good and is 5 grams of carb per slice. I was just wondering: does toasting the bread have any effect on the amount of carbs in it? Ron M. |

It has to. Burn it to a crisp, and the digestible carbs must be lower.
However, this misses the point, that a low carber should not be eating bread or toast. wrote in message ups.com... Ron M. wrote: I was just wondering: does toasting the bread have any effect on the amount of carbs in it? No. |

Skip the bread, use LC tortillas if you must. You can stuff a wrap with far more meat & cheese than you can stack a reasonable sandwich, anyways. |

I don't think so unless you really torch it.
On the other hand, if you cut the slice in half, hold the sliced edges down, then shake real hard you can shake some carbs out the edges . (jk) LQ |

Toasting's effect on carbs????
I am glad to see this question. I have had myself lately.
When I was a kid my Mom would always darkly toast any slice of bread she was going to eat. She was always trying to follow Weight Watchers. If in fact there are no carbs burned off, is fat or protein reduced, or does the calorie count too go unchanged? Jimmy "Cubit" wrote in message . net... It has to. I go for wraps mostly too, but I do get a ten carb sandwich
from time to time. Jimmy "Dr. Ernst Primer (again)" wrote in message ups.com...
