My DF has been registered for some time now to attend a conference in
Austin next month. He found out this week that he'll be receiving an
award at the conference, and now has decided that gosh darn it, he'd
like if I was there for this. So, I'm heading off to Austin next month!

This will be my first longish plane trip since most of this weight - I
went to LA in May but hadn't lost much at that point. I'm very curious
to see how I fit with the plane seats now.

I'll be signed up for the spouse & guest program, which in this case
means I get carted around on 5 tours of various cultural things. The
hotel we're staying at has a fitness centre, so I'll be in there every
morning getting ready for each day. Should be a challenge to stay OP
when, from the itinerary, it looks like they'll be shoving food at us
much of the time.

Whee, I'm so excited. My first time in Texas.

Sounds great Brynda!

I've had a look at the tours for the Spouse/Guest program and I'm just not
sure about them. Any opinions on the sites we're being taken to (from

anyone
out there)?

Here's the general itinerary:
Sunday - Inner Space Caverns (hopefully) am; opening session of

conference,
opening reception in evening.
Monday - Fredericksburg day trip including 2 museums, 3 historic homes and
lunch
Tuesday - Tour of Texas Capitol & Underground; lunch (included); Bob

Bullock
State History Museum. Also dinner/dance social evening.
Wednesday - City Bus Tour with stops at Umlauf Art Museum and Sculpture
Gardens; lunch at Chuy's (not included), Lyndon B Johnson Library &

Museum.

We arrive Saturday afternoon and leave Thursday afternoon. I'm pretty

sure
that although all the tours etc are included in the Spouse/Guest program

that
it's not mandatory to go to all of them. Geez I sure hope it isn't!

I'll have to send you my e-mail address and you can call and maybe we

can
have lunch or something! I definitely can let you know about some great
spots around town, so just let me know!
