Low Carbing In Order To Eat Carbs Again
With summer fruit just around the corner I am going to shed 15 or so
pounds so that I could eat with pleasure the plums and peaches and nectarines and watermelon that I so love. Perhaps an unpopular method to my "madness" but was curious if anyone else goes low carb for a short period of time to lose weight in order to eat complex carbs and not so complex carbs. Not talking about candy or cake or ice cream or white bread or baked potatoes but whole grain pasta and wild rice and rich hearty home baked whole grain breads and the aforementioned fruit. |

Please keep us posted on how it goes for you. Since I am on a lifetime maintenance I have been thinking about those grains and fruits too. I am sure Atkins mentions these in his new edition. * |

You could go on low-fat for a week and then come back to carbs after you
"fruit out". doug On 4/26/04 10:27 PM, in article , " wrote: With summer fruit just around the corner I am going to shed 15 or so pounds so that I could eat with pleasure the plums and peaches and nectarines and watermelon that I so love. Seasonal gorging on fruit was probably a natural thing for humans over the
eons. Why not fatten up for the winter? wrote in message ... I have various fruit trees including peach, apricot, plum, fig, cherimoya, orange and meyer lemon. I always have a bumper crop of fruit, and this year's apricots, plums and peaches are going to be ready around June. With the exception of a few strawberries I have not eaten any fruit since the end of Feb when i started LC. Since there is nothing to compare to the taste of a sun-ripened apricot fresh off the tree, I know I am going to be eating some fruit. I plan to keep up on my daily exercising and try to make sure the rest of my diet includes the lowest-calorie LC (e.g. salads, fish, chicken) foods possible in order to compensate. High carb and high fat in combination is dangerous. Perhaps you should do
low fat while gorging on fruits. "onoma" wrote in message news:tCajc.42111$ab3.15141@fed1read02... wrote in message ... I've been low-carbing as a means of appetite control. That is the *only* function of low-carbing which interests me. Because of low-carbing, I've been able to function on far less calories. Also, low-carbing has enabled me to do the occasional calorie-budgeting so I can consume foods which are not low-carb (but still healthy) in moderation. I don't devote an entire season, but occasions which require me to be flexible, and I'll be able to have that [rice/fruit/dark chocolate/potato wedge] etc, and then move on as normal to my "regular" way of eating. I'm not on a temporary diet, but a permanent way of life. I don't go all out or anything, as in a binge, but I do a shifterooni to accommodate for the foods which I have on my "sometimes" list. I don't believe that _for myself_, it is the carbs that "made me fat", it's simply overeating that made me fat.
