Default Want to start liquid/bars diet..Post #2

OK campers. I'm new here. I thought the first post to get info on LA spots
to sample products was simple enough. Silly me! I got 4 out of 5 responses
like "What have you got against food??" I didn't post diet drama of my
life but you asked for it....I'm 56..oeverwight all my life..in good
health except for some HBP...sendentary lifestyle...lost weight on every
diet imaginable (I could teach classes on most of 'em. Knowing what to
eat and nutritional info is about 1% of this thing...maybe). Lost 100 lbs
twice on Medifast and Optifast. NOW HERE'S THE BIGGIE....I had gastric
bypass 4 years ago. I lost 130 lbs effortlessly in a year. The operation
was self executing. I could only eat so much (And I didn't push then
envelope) and my plumbing of course was different. I even had a tummy
tuck and lipo. Then I reached homeostasis and found I had to watch what I
ate again. DAMN! I thought those days were over. Silly me again.
So I know I have to address AGAIN the food habit/emotional connection
between me and food issues. And I know all about doctor's supervision. But
I regained about 40-50 lbs and need to take it off ASAP for work. I'm
PROBABLY about 310 lbs. I gave up the scale symdrome from my OA days, but
I know my body well and 310 is probably where it's at. I'm in the
entertainment industry..performing end and I fear I've gone from a husky
type to fat man...and it may be costing me roles. So again I ask...where
in LA can I buy samples of liquid/bar meal replacement products? Thanks.
Again

I have no idea where specifically in LA one could come across what you're
looking for though I'd imagine you'd find it everywhere you look. Stores
like Wal Mart, Target, GNC, etc. all sell shakes and bars so what exactly
are you wanting? You've apparently done all of the extremes in the past and
it hasn't worked for you so what are you expecting this time?

When you did Medifast and Optifast, did you follow through all of the way to
maintenance? I did HMR and was quite successful in keeping the majority of
my weight off for more than a year now but that's only because I know that
there was really no way I could return to my old way of eating/life and not
return to being 300+ lbs. OTOH, I know people who returned to HMR 2 or 3
times after regaining each time.

So, rather than chastise people for honestly responding to your inquiry,
maybe you could specify which magic potion you are seeking to get you out of
your latest situation. Otherwise, you could hang around and learn something
about long term solutions to what appears to be a serious problem.

If you know all about doctor supervised diets then why don't you ask your
doctor to prescribe one? OTC shakes and bars were never designed to be
complete nutritional meal replacements. Look on any shake or bar you can
find. They specifically say they aren't to be used as the sole source of
nutrition.
