Gayelord Hauser products

From the Internet, I learned that GH was an American/German guru who started a health food cult in the US in the 1920s and founded Modern Foods Inc. Maybe I've missed previous mention of their products in this NG but any comments would be of interest. Back in the 80's, after having discovered his "Spike" seasoning, I ran into one of his cookbooks in a flea market. If I recall correctly, it was written in the thirties or forties. The recipes were WAY ahead of their time. He was into undercooking vegetables and strong proponent of tofu. I'm sorry I no longer have the book, I'd like to go back and see what he had to say about high-carb foods. |
