Yeah, I think he's a major conn artist that ought to be locked up. In fact,
hasn't he avoided being locked up a few times, now?

I do know people who believe his rantings, though.

So, there I was in Sam's Club today, waiting for them to rotate and balance
my tires, and I am looking for something to do for 1 1/2 hours....and I see
this Kevin Trudeau book.

I finally get to the "good part" where he tells you all you need to know
about losing 30 pounds in 30 days, etc. etc. He "guarantees" it.

This guy is dangerous! Anybody who reads this junk and falls for it is
seriously a moron! I hope I'm not being too blunt, but, Geez! He starts by
trying to convince people that you have from 10-12 pounds of "impacted fecal
material" in your colon and you should have your colon "cleansed" 10 times
in the first month of his "program." (I suddenly got this image of a guy
with hairy forearms and a garden hose.)

He also says that livers need to be "cleansed" and "detoxified" or they just
won't work, period. There are other body parts to be "cleansed", too, such
as the hypothalamus gland. (cleanse a gland? are they serious?)

Then, he sprinkles in a few good stuff--like walking for exercise, not
over-eating, and getting a good night's sleep before it's back to the idiocy
with "drink 1/2 to a gallon of water a day" and take all kinds of weird
supplements that will "cleanse" this and that.

My brain just overloaded on the stuff. I actually stopped and looked around,
expecting to see somebody with a sign reading "Smile, you're on Candid
Camera!"

sheesh. He even claims he "lost 45 pounds in 6 weeks" and you can, too!

another quote:

"Most people who have gone through this weight loss protocol have lost on
average 1 pound per day without losing muscle or structural fat. This
protocol actually affects the hypothalamus gland inducing the burning and
release of the secure fat deposit reserves in the body such as fat deposits
in the hips, thighs, buttocks and stomach. The only weight that you loose is
in the problem areas where the secure fat deposits reside resulting in a
restructuring of the body. After completing the protocol it has been said by
doctors that you will not gain the weight back, as the protocol has reset
your hypothalamus so that your appetite adjusts accordingly. "

And, yes, he used the word "loose"--this was clipped and pasted.

How far does a person have to read before they say "Whoa!" and come back to
the reality that this guy is not playing with a full deck?

He did get into some trouble with the FTC awhile back.

http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2004/09/trudeaucoral.shtm
September 7, 2004

A Federal Trade Commission settlement with Kevin Trudeau – a
prolific marketer who has either appeared in or produced hundreds
of infomercials – broadly bans him from appearing in, producing,
or disseminating future infomercials that advertise any type of
product, service, or program to the public, except for truthful
infomercials for informational publications. In addition, Trudeau
cannot make disease or health benefits claims for any type of
product, service, or program in any advertising, including print,
radio, Internet, television, and direct mail solicitations,
regardless of the format and duration. Trudeau agreed to these
prohibitions and to pay the FTC $2 million to settle charges that
he falsely claimed that a coral calcium product can cure cancer
and other serious diseases and that a purported analgesic called
Biotape can permanently cure or relieve severe pain.

However, I will add, that "his" diet is not based on his research, Kevin is
a reseller of information. So the actually HCG diet is real and based on an
actual Doctors findings and research

http://www.hcgdietinfo.com/ for some basic information on the diet and Dr.
behind the diet and I did post some other links earlier before rude people
decided to lambaste me without doing research on their own.

So, one goes to the site you gave and what does one find? Something being
pushed by Trudeau? A book called "The Weight Loss Cure".

This is what you call research?

I guess you're just too stupid to get that a VLCD will product weight loss
in just about any critter alive today.

Grow Up!

You are coming to a LC diet support site, looking for support for
something that is only tangentially LC (It's the only LC diet I've
ever seen where you have to get an injectable hormone derived from
urine) and get bent when people suggest that your expectations are out
of whack.

FWIW: Your expectations are out of whack with both your experience and
reality. You are holding up people who are usually accompanied by the
"Weight Loss results not typical" disclaimer as average and within the
realm of the possible. In marketing, they technical term for the type
of person who expects non-typical results and buys is "highly
suggestible."

I should grow up and not respond like this. But it's only out of
interest for your well being in a "we are all part of the main" kind
of way.

You mentioned that you were thinking about getting an MBA. I would
highly recommend it at a school with a strong economics foundation
like U of Chicago or my alma, Washington U in St. Louis. The
experience is up there for both one of the five best things I've ever
done and one of the five most life changing / revelation of new
thinking experiences as well. Granted, I put on 40 lbs in 2 years
(quit LC, ate like crap and drank more sugar coke than I can
remember). But they're gone now.

-Hollywood, who wishes you would put the past in the past and get on
with everything.
