How do I find my CCLL on fixed calories?
I've been upping my carb count every couple of weeks, and am now at
40-45 grams/day. But I've also been holding my calorie count steady at 1300/day (8x my current weight, and 10x my goal weight). That's according to FitDay (http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJ...ner=carbonel17). I've been following the Atkins program from DANDR. Given the fixed calorie count, how can I really figure out what my CCLL is? I've never used ketostix, but have just trusted, based on carb count, that I was in ketosis. Should I just keep upping the carb count until I start gaining weight or being hungry all the time? Or should I pick some arbitrary carb count like 45 or 50 and hold it there? I've been losing weight steadily, and I'm exercising six times a week, so I feel I'm doing well, but I'm wondering what to do next. 208/162/130 Started 3/1/04 |

Beth,
I remember reading somewhere in DANDR that you don't need to use Ketostix to alert you to when you fall out of ketosis. I would use body signals to let me know: clothes getting looser, energy level staying high, no cravings, etc. Atkins also said that you could watch for your weight loss to stall or actually gain, but I think women have a difficult time doing this. You also might want to add carbs even more slowly, maybe upping them every 2 weeks, as opposed to every week. It's working! Your current program sounds remakably similar to what I know works best for me: (40 - 60g/carbs per day, adn around 1400 - 1600 calories.) Keep up the good work, and congratulations on your success so far! -- Peter 270/215/180 Before/Current Pix: http://users.thelink.net/marengo/wei...htlosspix.html |
