Default UKers - Tesco

Hi folks

I just did a quick shop at my local Tesco.
Michelob beer is on special offer, 3.18 for a 4 pack. I wonder if thats
because it has not sold well since they introduced it? It was 4.18 at
first, 275ml bottles. Is it the same kind of price in USA? I'm not a
great fan of beer so I did not buy any. I prefer to water down some
white wine to 5% if I want a drink with dinner. Makes the bottle go so
much further too!

Tesco also had the wholemeal Nimble bread someone here recommended; its
only 7.4g per slice. I got some for a treat. I hope I can stay away from
it on a regular basis, cos I want to stay thinking I'm not a bread person.
I also found their Hungarian Sausages which are 'trace' carbs each
sausage. They are VERY highly flavored with garlic and currently
stinking the fridge out.
They used to carry another sausage - Toulouse I think it was, that had
the same carb count. They don't seem to carry either regularly though.

I assume that is 3.18 pounds. A 6-pack in the US is in the 4.00 dollar range
on sale. That said, I wouldn't drink it, don't like it. :-) BJ

Hi BJ

yes thats 3.18 pounds. That makes it about 5.25 dollars US on special
offer. Regular price would be more like 6.90 USD! Thats expensive beer.
I'm so glad my husband does not low-carb ;-)

Toulouse is the "other" sausage with a "trace" of carbs. I have never
had a problem in getting either of them from my local Tesco, but that
may be partly due to the fact it is one of the big 24-hour ones.
Sainsbury also has some sausages (part of the "taste the difference
range" ISTR) that are lower is carb than most other sausages I've seen
(from memory - 2g carb per 100g sausage). I've not tried any yet, but
they do sound tasty. Anyone tried them?

Heading slightly off-topic... I recently discovered that the prices on
the Tesco Internet shopping are not linked to what you'll pay in the
store. To quote the girl at the local store "the Internet site can
charge what it likes". If you do use their Internet shopping service,
you may want to make sure your not paying over the odds.
(in my case - it happened to be that the shop was more expensive than
the Net.)

Cheers,
Rob (currently eating a hungarian sausage )

I have bought some frankfurters from Lidl that are .5 per sausage. They
cost 99p for 10
very tasty, I like to micro them for a couple of minutes. Yummy

Hi Rob.

I do order basic groceries from Tesco.com. I love having all those
heavy/bulky items brought to my door. The trouble is they don't list
everything, even when it is in stock at the store. This applies to the
Toulouse sausages! as well as other seasonal/interesting stuff. So I
have to wait until I pay a visit to my nearest store, which is a small
one, and grab them if they are around. The delivery comes from a much
bigger store further away. I find that the bill is usually well below
the on-line estimate.
I'll check out the Sainsbury range when I can - thanks for the tip.
I love sausage but find it hard to get ready made. I often make up
sausage meat from minced pork instead.

Yeah, but they are *well* good.
