i am a big believer (not always a follower) that we are to listen to
our bodies.
if running makes your knees hurt, why would you continue
traumatizing yourself?
can't you find a better exercise?

Do you mean stopping during a run? Well, during a run my knees are
okay.

I would like to run if I can find a way to do so safely. It seems

that
glucosamine is something that can let me run safely due to

thickening
of joint tissue that it induces.

Well, the real issue is that the knees are worn out due to
running. So, the right thing to do is to repair the damage, if
possible. It seems that glucosamine can do just that.

i am a BIG BELIEVER in the use of glucosamine chondroitin, and use
it daily with great success.
i also have had to change my lifestyle to eliminate "jarring"
exercise, and incorporate different forms of exercise.

YOGA and WALKING have become regulars for me.

rosie

If I can repair that damage, then I would like to run because,

first,
I like it, and second, because it is a good exercise.

As you know, I also walk daily and lift weights. But running would

be
a good addition to this. I am very used to running and it makes me
feel better and improves my mood.

I think it's important to distinguish between pain that can be
corrected, or that is the just the body saying, "I'm not used to this
and I don't like it, so let's stop now." from pain that indicates harm
is being done. If we stopped doing anything that was uncomfortable,
most of us would never take up exercising at all. I think it makes
sense for Iggy to see if he can get his knees to handle running
without it hurting him.

I used to have a lot of knee issues and didn't think I could ever run.
Between weight loss, other exercise, and glucosamine/chondroitin, they
got a lot better. I took up running a year ago and have had no knee
problems as a result.

Does it really repair the damage? I think if your knees are blown, then
continuing to run, even if it doesn't hurt, doesn't make much sense.

Once upon a time, our fellow rosie
rambled on about " Glucosamine -- 3 week results."
Our champion De-Medicalizing in sci.med.nutrition retorts, thusly ...

Rosie's concept of exercise is working out at the keyboard, daily.

Just thought that you might want to know.

Is it? Have you compared it to yoga, Tai Chi, or swimming?

I don't run, either. I walk at 4.5 mph at a 15 percent grade on a
treadmill - like running at 7 mph but no jarring. I also use the efx
machine. If it hurts your joints, don't do it. Love your body and it
will love you back.
