There's a Star Trek: The Original Series episode that answers
this. "I, Mudd". Harry Mudd leads a planet of robots. Until
our heroes arrive from the Enterprise. Then Mudd is given the
choice of spending the rest of his life at a penal colony or stay
with the robots. The robots keep him for observation - As an
example of the worst humanity has to offer.

LOL Doug, you're a geek... so am I, since I know exactly which episode
you're talking about.. LOL

If you figure that one out, you let me know...

Morbid curiosity, like a train wreck. An attractive, modern, shiny new
train with all the extras. You know it's going to crash and you almost
hope it doesn't even though it doesn't concern you and you could never
afford to ride it - because when it crashes it's going to be horrible,
and you're filled with dread but it's difficult to make yourself look away.

Boy! What a great description...I think I rode the tracks once or twice.

Thanks.
I've ridden those tracks a time or two myself. Sometimes I think I'm
still on them. (not Paris' exactly, but...)

I have been a fan of ST:TOS since it aired in prime time. I
have attended two ST conventions over the years. I have never
put on Star Fleet uniform. As to geek, sure am and those are
my limits. If I ever get back to Las Vegas, say goodbye to
that thing about never putting on Star Fleet uniform, though.
I've heard the Star Trek Experience is a blast and a half.
And that low carb is easy at most food places.

So - Time to work up a power supply on my treadmill so I
can watch reruns with the TV powered by my own walking!

To have stuff on topic for ASD - My wife found a treadmill at
a garage sale. The thing is so huge it had to be dismantled
to fit through a doorway! But in the last weeks I've taken up
using it in the mornings while I'm still too groggy to care.
It has a heart rate thing and I try to stay in the my range.

Let's see if I understand how the aerobic heart range is
supposed to work for a 25 minute workout 3-7 days per
week:

If 5 minutes in my heart rate is below the range, then I
need to increase my workout next time.

If 20 minutes in my heart rate is above the range, then I
need to decrease my workout next time. But minutes
21-25 may as well move up the intensity to improve
conditioning.

If both are true then my condition sucks so much I just
need to stay with it for a while. Whew, that only happened
once while I was figuring out what sort of levels to use.

If my heart rate is within range at both 5 and 20 minute
points, then I have tuned my workout okay and my goal
is to improve my condition until the 5 minute point has me
under range. And to do some sort of extra intensity in
the final few minutes as a challenge.

I worked the interval profiles once to make sure I know
how to use them but for a while I'm just doing 25 minutes
at some speed at some elevation until my condition gets
good.

I've often written that there's some level of condition where
you walk briskly for 30 minutes and start to wonder why
that counts as exercise. Turns out I haven't fallen below
that level. I needed to set the incline to 6.0 degrees to
stay in my aerobic heart rate. Not a good starting point
but not a crappy one either.

Still looking for a used Bowflex ...

Exactly my thoughts! Why is this brainless bitch in the news? I mean,
she's not even pretty!

She is the worst type of role model for young girls/women. Proudly
promoting cocaine and AODA keeps a person thin alright; they also die
young b/c of it. Definitely NOT a role model. The news coverage is
making it look enticing & exciting----that's when the young female/
male public think it's cool & follow her to the grave. Read up on the
overall affects of doing cocaine on a regular basis.........screwed up
sleep, premature wrinkles, the whole 9 yards. Loss of muscle tone.
Unclear thinking which lead her into trouble in the first
place.......remember that much!
