Anyone have any suggestions about what 'mushy' foods are low-carb and
actually taste good? All I can think of is oatmeal, cream of wheat,
etc, which are all high carb.

Any suggestions, resources, references, war stories, or good, clean
jokes, would be appreciated.

Kathryn

Mashed cauliflower, SF Jello, softened cream cheese, egg salad, protein
shakes for starters.

You will most likely be able to eat fish and soon after chicken. I had mine
out ALL 6 OF THEM and played golf the next day and was pretty normal. Yes
my dad had 6 and so did I. It wasn't all that bad really.

I hate being the downer but I had my wisdom teeth out 2 years ago in
December. Please be prepared for the worse, I wasn't.
Went in for the surgery, it was suppose to be short and sweet. Well, I woke
up nearly 2 hours later. Something had gone wrong. The doctor had
accidentally slipped and had cut up into my sinuses!( remember that waiver
they have you sign right before you go under, says they wont be liable if
something goes wrong like that) Instead of the weekend recovery time, I was
on heavy pain killers for over a month.
The most pain I have ever been in my life. I had to sleep sitting up for a
month with a wrap around my head that held ice on both sides of my face. I
was also given prescription allergy pills to prevent any infection in my
sinuses. Also, I was told I couldn't blow my nose for weeks!
After the healing finally began all of the meds had weakened my immune
system, I got the worst flu of my life. Out of work another week or so.

Anyhow, to tell you how the story ends, I suddenly contracted optic
neuritis, which is basically when the nerve from you brain to your eye
swells up and makes you blind in that eye. Some months later I was
eventually diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. The doctors think it started
with the nasty flu I had after having the surgery.

I am not for certain saying that it was all because of the wisdom teeth
surgery, but that's where it started and ended within 6 months.

As far as food, jello is your friend, I always watch carbs but eat Velveeta
and cheese for a month. Ended up loosing a lot of weight, funny when you
cant eat!

I had some teeth pulled recently and ended up on a diet consisting of
protein powder shakes, full-fat yogurt with DaVinci syrup, ricotta
cheese with melted mozzarella and tomato sauce as a meal, ricotta with
cocoa and sweetener as a dessert, and lotsa omelets for a few days.

As you accelerate your food, it takes exponentially more and more energy
to increase its velocity, until you hit a limit at C. This energy has
to come from somewhere; in this case, from the food's nutritional value.
Thus, the faster the food is, the worse it gets.

When I had my five out. (Yes, I was full of wisdom!) I wasn't in the mood
for anything but SF Jello and soup!

It's usually the first few days you'll feel tender. After that, you just
have to watch what you eat, and "flush" food out of the gaps after ever
meal. Your dentist should provide you with a syringe which will help you
get the water to the gaps in the back of your mouth. I'd avoid peanuts for
a while.......

Also, don't wear anything light colored. I made the mistake, and didn't
realise I was drooling (very numb) and had blood all over my outfit! Not a
pretty sight.......

That is good advice. I will add: don't drink through a straw. Don't
smoke. The sucking can dislodge any blood clot that is forming and you
could end up with a very painful dry socket and have to return to the
dentist.

I can attest to that. I had all 4 dry sockets. that is one special kind of
pain.
