If you worked out more often, your body wouldn't ache.

Huh? You knocking Curves? Don't you go knocking Curves, boy-eee!!!! My
body says it's "for real" when the day after a workout everything aches.
That good ache, not that "I pulled something" ache. There are some really
buff chicks there who don't do any other exercise than Curves, but I plan
to add some more activities in when I'm in better shape, I'm thinking
volleyball and some sort of martial arts.

Hey Luna,
I say "kudos" to anyone willing to pick theirself up , dust

theirself
off,
and keep on truckin'. I've seen your pics, and your doing one

helluva
job!
Refocus your motivation on what got you into the LC WOE in the first

place.
It works for me anyway. I want my "6-pack" back instead of my

"kegger".
I
refuse to yell at you and berate you for falling off the wagon, none

of
us
are perfect. I will, however, be satisfied with telling you that

what
you
are doing (LC WOE) is something that at times can be very difficult;

and
to
fall away, but still be able to pick up the pieces and continue

towards
a
goal, shows a perseverance and courage on your part that not

everyone
has.
Chris B.

Thanks!!! I think I may have exaggerated my "falling off the wagon"

in my
original post. I didn't go back to what I was eating before LC, not

by a
long shot. I didn't add enough carbs back in to make me gain or

stall,
but
it did make the weight loss slower, and more importantly my cravings

came
back. That was the sign to me that I needed to get back to being

strict,
no more treats. I feel more like I lost my balance and _almost_ fell

out
of the wagon, and now I just need to refocus and hold on tighter.

Luna,

Ignore the fanatics. If you are going to low carb for the rest of your
life, you better learn how to cycle up and down a bit and keep the
"forbidden food" syndrome from eventually derailing you.

I am succeeding where I failed before because I've worked off plan foods
into my low carb lifestyle. I'm looking at weekly and monthly averages
rather than daily numbers. I'm logging everything to keep myself honest, but
I'm also relaxing so that food doesn't become the center of a huge sense of
deprivation.

Three years of "You can't eat that, ever" lead to complete bur out for me in
the past--followed by a year of going off plan and gaining 20 lbs. Now I'm
finishing up a year of being on plan--a year that included eating small
portions of just about anything you might imagine eating including pasta,
cake, ice cream and bread. I'm 138 lbs this morning--and that includes a
couple pounds of glycogen-water since my weekly average grams of carbs are
close to 80. But I've been under 140 for two months now and this maintenance
routine is working.

The key is balance. If I go way up for a couple days, I go way down
afterwards. If I am going to eat a lot of carbs in one meal I go easy for
the rest of the day. If I have something special coming up, I make room for
the calories and carbs in what I eat the next couple days. Most importantly
I log everything so I keep myself honest. Most of the time I find my
"pigouts" are much lower in calories and even sometimes carbs than I
thought. (Sometimes I also find out that my "reasonable amount" turned out
to be way more than I realized, and I correct in the future.) It's a
process, but I feel so much saner eating this way than I did when it was 30
grams a day and everything over was Sin.

Also, contrary to what was posted here, it does NOT take two weeks to get
back on track. It may take two weeks to flush all the water out of your
muscles and liver, but you don't need to go that low to maintain or even
lose weight on a low carb regimen. If you've gone above 100 grams for a few
weeks it may take three days to get over the cravings. If you can stay under
100 grams it takes almost no time at all to get back into a lower carb mode.
I do not have the problem with hunger cravings that I had when I was much
more overweight now that I'm at goal, which is interesting. I assume it
means my insulin levels have dropped.

Just remember: Fear of carbs leads to the final "I lost 100 pounds low
carbing, maintained for two years, and then gained it all back" behavior we
see people posting here from time to time.Learn how to make a reasonable
amount of carbs part of your ongoing plan and you'll maintain just fine. I
am.

Howdy Luna - It's amazing how righteous some people can get. Surely no one
can argue with the success that you have had and if you want to have a
cheeseburger in the morning, so be it. (just no fries on the side )

And the whole issue of not adhering strictly to the plan - isn't that the
"support" part of this group? If we were all perfect, would this group
exist? I say congratulations on spotting the trend before it gets out of
hand. Maybe I'm feeling this way because I too, have been indulging too
much this last week. (yes, popcorn, breaded chicken, nuts and chocolate)
But, like you, at least my mindset has changed enough that I although I
don't feel great about it, I'm not going to beat myself up, but instead will
refocus.

So, off to have my breakfast of bacon cheeseburger, but without the
hamburger. To each their own!

I wasn't keeping track, that was the problem. I never had a big blow-out
high carb binge, but it was a case of just a little of this, a little of
that. I was basically just not paying attention. Like I said before, it
wasn't enough to stall or gain, but it was enough to bring back cravings
and put a little healthy fear into me.

Three years of "You can't eat that, ever" lead to complete bur out for me in

My cravings were gone again after the first day of going stricter again. I
did my Fitday for the "Going back to strict mode" day, and I was at 22
grams. I picked a sample day when I was being slack, and tried to remember
what I ate on the worst day, and it was 110 grams. I didn't eat like that
every day, just too many days like that interspersed throughout the month
added up and resulted in losing 4 pounds instead of the previous 8,
cravings coming back, and lack of energy.

Luna Dear,

I am so glad that I read this thread. I have been eating way to much
Peanut butter and flirting with tastes of ice cream, a bite of bread,
a nibble of muffin, and a few M&M's now and then. I am still losing
weight, but at a much slower pace.

This thread has motivated me. I really appreciate what Jenny said. I
do believe that we have to learn to live with Carbs and not fear them.
If I do an "all or nothing" approach as has been demanded by some
posters, it will surely turn into nothing and I will gain back that 36
lbs! I need to live in a real world that allows me an occasional taste
of a delicacy. I can do that once or twice a month and be very very
happy as I get skinny!

Luna, you are awesome to share your experiences. They help everyone.

Ruby
