Default treadmill or exercycle?

One or two of them have turned a bit cold toward me since I stopped

drinking
during the diet and don't stay out until all hours of the night. I still

go
out once in a while, but leave early and only drink club soda. It's just
not as fun for me as it used to be. I've become sort of a hermit (besides
hanging out with DH) because I'm really uncomfortable with the attention I
get these days since I'm pretty much an introvert. If I go out with

people
from work all they do is bitch about work. I'll start going out again in
the summer when it involves volleyball and boating.

Well I guess they sound lik aquaintances, not friends. When you say
attention, do you mean from men or people in general? From people that knew
your as fat or new people you've been meeting?

That episode of Average Joe was the only one I saw because of the

commercial
advertising the whole fat suit thing and I wanted to see what would

happen,
otherwise I also don't care for "reality" shows.

I think some of the concepts for those shows are funny... but I just don't
have time or energy to follow all of them. I saw the very last episode of
the first Joe Millionaire just out of curiousity. On Monday, they played
Average Joe at the gym. I 1/2way watched it while on bike and listening to
mp3. I don't think that counts though! The show was based on 18 fat and/or
short and/or ugly men competing for a model's love. You can tell that she
is just doing the show because she doesn't want to appear shallow in real
life.

It's a combination of both. I live in small town that's among a number of
other small towns and everyone knows everyone so going out to the bars I'm
always running into someone I know and haven't seen in forever. It's not a
bad thing, I just needed a break from having the whole diet conversation
with someone new for the 243rd time and because it is such a big deal that
attempts I make to change the subject ("enough about me, how are *you* doing
these days blah blah blah) always get steered back to the diet.

We're also a tourist mecca so we get lots of people from out of town on the
weekends but it's disproportionately male. The attention from guys is only
new in that they seem to be more persistent than when I was fat. When I was
fat, I could shut someone down pretty quickly and politely - end of story.
Nowadays I start with polite, then turn a little bitchy and that doesn't
seem to be enough so I guess it's ok to be a bitch if you're normal sized
and cute. I'm only talking about guys who continue to hit on me after
seeing my wedding ring and hearing me say "my husband" in every other
sentence. I am referring to the touchy-feely, "lemme call you," "let's go
somewhere else," drunk & stupid types.

I never mind having a good conversation with a guy who is just looking for
someone to talk to and I've had plenty of those too.

That's why I said it with a smiley, I'm a metalhead. Anyone who isn't,

commercial radio (though I play metal on my college radio show). IMO, the

The same is true of country music, which I listen to when I'm not working
out. I like Jimmie Dale Gilmore, with and without the Flatlanders, Lucinda
Williams (although she won a grammy as a rocker), Darcie Deaville, Bob
Childers, Willis Alan Ramsey, and lots and lots of others.

What evidence do you have that ephedra adversely affects the thyroid?

You've slid into making generalistic statements, and the alleged "many
cases of adverse side effects" the FDA trumpets are unscientific
anecdotal rubbish.

The FDA has cited cases in which ephedra has had a deleterious effect on
health. My point is that if ephedra weren't overused, there wouldn't be
nearly the number and the FDA would quite possibly have ignored it. I
reasonably doubt that they are anecdotal rubbish. Ephedra does have a
mechanism or two to cause the problems they indicate.

Why are you taking so much of it? Do you really need a metabolism running
that hard?

I'll take your word on the country. : ) But it's true that the best is not
the mass-produced homogenous stuff on commercial radio. Sure, it takes a bit
of work to find the gems, but it's worth it.

For instance, check out the music programs on college radio stations...no
commercials and sometimes they have the cutting edge stuff that only months
later make it to corporate radio. Most college radio stations have different
shows for different types of music. The show I do, for example, is all
extreme metal. But on KUSF we have different styles: alt-pop, Goth,
Techno/Trans, hip hop, etc.

Or, check out websites under the style of music you like. Underground bands
happily allow listeners to download their music. At least in metal they do.
Even bigger metal bands like Iron Maiden know that if they provide free MP3s
for their fans, their fans will still buy their albums. It's about the
music, not about getting rich.

That happens to me at work once in a while. Our customers are mostly men
(mechanics and engineers) and the married ones think that when you're being
nice to them means you're flirting with them. Give me a break! In our system
I can see who's married and who's not! It drives me crazy. I'm single and
have zero interest in married men. What the hell is the matter with them???

The FDA hasn't cited any actual *science* at all.

My point is that if ephedra weren't overused, there wouldn't be

Since when is the FDA in the business of banning products which are used
contrary to the labeling instructions?

Why isn't the FDA banning aspirin, which kills 4,000 a year?

If you have a case to make, cite someactual science. Like a double-blind

a metabolism running that hard?

Who says it's "running hard"? The appitite-suppressant factor is the
wowzer aspect of ephedra: I don't have to bother dieting, as I still eat
when I'm hungry.

I bet you get sick of having to talk about diet so many times. I know it
wears me out too. I don't know what I will do when I am in that position
too. I can already tell that I get a little more attention from people now
that I am thinner. I like that I get more attention... sometimes...
