Default Not always the scale that's important

I've been a bit discouraged lately because I've been working out with
a trainer and working out HARD. I'm pushing myself, and I feel myself
getting stronger every day, but the scale wasn't moving much. Moving
yes - but not much. The trainer told me last week that my body is
still playing around with water levels and I shouldn't worry about the
scale. Easy for him to say. Yesterday I took my measurements. It's
been exactly one month since I started this thing and look at these
numbers:

Upper arm: stayed the same
Chest: down 3"
Waist: down 6 (that's SIX) inches
Hips: down 2"
Upper Thigh - down 1"
Calf: down 1.5 inches

No wonder my clothes are feeling looser. I'm a happy camper again. (I
carry all my flab from chest to belly, and it's all in front. There is
some real visible shrinkage going on there, and I'm happy to actually
HAVE a waist.

im in the same situation....been working out for a month and my body is
changing and a few ppl said i look like im losing weight however the
scale still says about the same ....ive been drinking LOTS of water this
past month and thats for the first time in my life .....im 5'4 and just
under 160 lb and i want to get to about 130 at least by spring ...thats
my goal :-)

YAY Paper! Congratulations on the great losses!

This is why I always recommend taking measurements as well as weight.
It's helped me through some tough times, like the 5-week plateau where
I didn't lose an ounce but lost inches.

I had the same thing happen, Paper. Now I track my measurements too...it
helps when the scales aren't moving.

It's nice to see a difference even if it's not a scale difference. I
was seeing similar things recently, but it's settled down again now.
Keep up the workouts and your body will eventually figure out what
happened and you'll start losing weight again.
But don't worry you've been losing fat all the time

If you want to prove you are losing fat get your trainer to measure
your body fat. Then do it again in a month etc. The figures will be
encouraging by the sounds of it.
