Hello, All!

I was trying to find a good place to get feedback on loosing some weight. I
just got a new life insurance policy and on a scale from 1 to 17 (17 being
the worst) I was a 2. The main factor was my weight. I have been in
school, my wife and I have had two kids and I have changed jobs a few times.
Through it all, my diet is what gets the least attention. We are now trying
to live better, but I'm not sure where to begin. I am exercising and have
been for about 2 years with little result. I just got a book (for free)
called the "Maker's Diet" which seems interesting. If anyone has advice,
I'm all eyes.

With best regards, Joker. E-mail:

OK, I'll fall for it. What is the "Maker's Diet"?

Then immediately rush off to

http://www.johnstonefitness.com

60lbs and 12% body fat - I'd say they helped me.

I My guess is that if you are as good as 2 out of 17 on some insurance
I scale, 17 being the worst, you probably are not too fat. Is that
I correct?

I Exercise alone does not necessarily, or even usually, bring about a
I successful weight loss. Eating less in some fashion is key.

I What is that diet book proposing? The makersdiet website is pretty
I unclear about what it actually is, making a lot of promises and
I suggesting that we buy the book.

Not too big. About 30 lbs and 6" around the waist to much. I got the book
for free. I bought some meat from a local rancher and he had a bunch that
were sent to him. I have seen numerous sites that have it for free. I have
only started reading it, so I was hoping someone else had read it and can
give me a review.

Thanks for the feedback Matt. Can you give me a synopsis of the book. I
have only started reading it. It appears to be in line with other books
such as Fit for Life and other whole foods diets.

Fit for Life would be more quackery. See
http://www.quackwatch.org/11Ind/fitforlife.html.

For Maker's Diet see http://www.ncahf.org/digest04/04-25.html.
You will need to scroll down about halfway through this page.

Ok, I'll play devil's advocate for a second and ask, is anything
"naturalistic" not quackery? I am of the opinion that while we have great
emergency care in this country, we are built on a system to make money, ie
pharmaceutical companies don't want you to get well. So, what's the answer?
Does medical science have pill I can take to lose the weight? As far as I
can tell, eating right and exercising are the only ways to get there and
that is a natural solution.

So, has anything been written on the "Maker's" book? I noticed in the link
it mentions Robert Haas, who is also mentioned in the "Maker's" book.

I will also state, I am a Christian an don't believe science solves all our
problems. I still go to the doctor, but I know they are just humans and can
make terrible mistakes, so I educate myself before I seek their advise.

I appologize if I indicated otherwise, but you used the term "christian

of truth.
