today sucked for me
I completely forgot that my folks wanted to take me out to dinner
tonight and for lunch i went with co-workers to Souplantation -- all you can eat soup and salad. Sounds innocuous -- heck no! Somewhere between choosing water over softdrink and skipping the sourcream in the chili, i managed to rack up 1100 calories there. And then dinner, for which i was completely not hungry for thanks to "soup and salad," was sooooo good. Even tho I only picked and nibbled (yeah right), I still downed a heroic 900 calories. it's official -- i was a total diet-loser today. I should just roast a turkey now and stuff it down my throat and get it over with. oh! and the boss is taking our entire team to the cheesecake factory on wednesday. f*ck, that's great. but seriously. that means between the dinner i had with the folks today until wednesday, i really can't eat ANYTHING. i mean seriously. i'm TRYING to keep a weekly calorie average of 1200/day here, and today alone i went to 2100. If somehow I manage to not eat too much tomorrow and thursday, i can still keep this week's daily average to a respectable 1300 a day --which is acceptable. man, it's gonna suck tomorrow. really really really sucky. why did i go out to lunch today? why??!!! Soupplantation is the worst thing that can ever happen to me -- it's like that sneaky girl at QA who pretends to be your friend just to screw you over when you start to feel safe. Souplantation pretends that it's healthy, but totally, it is a calorie trap! Souplantation, i hate you -- if i knew i was going to sink 1150 calories at your stupid table i would have ran for McDonalds instead. argh!!!! tomorrow! minithins and lots of water. and maybe a rice cake or 18...I am now freaking out about the cheesecake factory -- did you know that there is NO nutritional info on their website? I guess it's kind of like how the nazi party don't brag about hitler being short, brown hair and evil... anyway, just wanted to vent about me being a total diet loser today. |

You are not a loser/failure (insert word of choice) you made a mistake
so dust for self off and start again. Maybe you can get some extra exercise or cut down on the cals for a day or two to make up or it. On the dreaded cheesecake day try eat something just before going to fill you up so you can just ttaste a little bit. Something filling like fruit and a glass of milk, or a sandwich. If oyu go over calories again it is not the end of the workd don't use it as an excuse to ruin the whole week. 2 days are just that there are still 5 days to make the week a good one. Good luck and let us know how you got on. It all boils down to how much you want to lose weight. Restaurant visits may be inevitable, but overeating is not inevitable. Pick up a dish that you like, in advance. omg, you know what? that's what i did, i went on the website -- they have this thing called "Miso Salmon" -- it's marinated in Miso and baked and comes with a side of white rice and snow peas. well bend me over and call me charlie -- that ALMOST sounds healthy! (of course, knowing how that place is, i'm sure by "miso" they actually mean "lard." but i'll let you know! Eat half if necessary. you know, HONESTLY that did not even occur to me (that is how retarded i can be!), but I'm gonna give that a try for a change. Free food at buffets and company paid restaurants may be very expensive for you, if you consider the effort to get rid of weight gain caused by that food. So, free food does not mean you have to stuff yourself. As a third worlder, I had a hard time grasping that concept. oh god i know! what? all you can eat? omg...that means i can pay $6.50...and eat all that i want??? omg!!! *tramples the entire senior busline* -- needless to say, this mentality NEEDS to go. Spend some extra calorie exercising, even if you cannot completely make up for that overeating. You know, i hate to admit it but i think i might have to resort to *gulp* excercise *gulp* this week -- man this is gonna suck -- but i gotta do what i gotta do -- i can't go through another new year being fat. (I'll be twenty-six in 2006 -- that's my chinese expiration date! after that I'm just going to be an old maid! oh no! ) Losing weight by eating less is a game of numbers. You cannot lose weight by having a great attitude, if you eat too much. You can only lose weight by consistently doing the right things most of the time and not doing wrong things very often. Butch up and do the right thing, which is eat less despite temptations. as stated in previous post -- will man up and refrain from stuffing myself. and you guys will be posted. (haha, like you have a choice, since i can't stop posting.) |

The bad part, nutritionally speaking, is that it can be quite salty. http://tinyurl.com/4zsno If I ordered this, I'd ask 'how many ounces is the salmon' and cut the fillet if necessary (placing leftover section on bread plate to bring home). I'd probably also ask for no rice and extra veggies -- mostly due to the fact that it is white rice and that I have a horrible time estimating portion sizes of rice on restaurant plates! -- jmk in NC |

Miso is not lard.... http://www.soyfoods.com/soyfoodsdescriptions/miso.html Sounds like a great dish to me. Healthy salmon, healthy lard, what can be better? Simply eat as much as you think is proper for your diet. Lard is not one of the healthiest foods around and probably should be avoided in most diets. It's high in saturated fat. Again saturated fat is something most people try to limit in their diets. http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts-001-02s00df.html Eat half if necessary. you know, HONESTLY that did not even occur to me (that is how retarded i can be!), but I'm gonna give that a try for a change. (I'll be twenty-six in 2006 -- that's my chinese expiration date! after that I'm just going to be an old maid! oh no! ) Exercise, by the way, is known to improve mood in very many people. Here's the opposite article that says that some -- but not the majority -- of people get no benefit from exercise. Very interesting stuff. Note though that most people do get benefits from exercise, but some apparently do not, if we are to believe this article. Health benefits aside, everyone spends calories exercising. http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn6735 ``There is astounding variation in the response to exercise. The vast majority will benefit in some way, but there will be a minority who will not benefit at all,? says Claude Bouchard of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, US.'' You need to stop beating yourself up. Just forget about yesterday and
get back on track today. Starving yourself for a couple of days is a really bad idea. While it's a reasonable goal to aim for a weekly average, you can't do it by a feast/famine approach. At the most, you can cut 100-200 calories off your normal day's plan (and I'm not sure about even that, given your low daily goal). Maybe this will be a week that you come in a little over goal. So what? It's the long term that counts. Instead, just think about how you might have managed a little better today, and learn from it. Look at the Cheesecake Factory trip as an opportunity to practice eating healthily in a restaurant. This is a skill we all need to learn. You don't actually even need to eat cheesecake there, you know :-). They probably have some nice salads (with protein, please!) that you can order with dressing on the side. And if you want dessert, maybe someone would share a piece of cheesecake with you. Or order one and eat half. Feel good about yourself doing this, not deprived! The "I should just roast a turkey now and stuff it down my throat and get it over with." thinking -- while I assume you meant this facetiously -- is exactly why so many people fall off the wagon. Yesterday has nothing to do with today. Just forget about it. Chris 262/134/ (135-145) |
