Man, what a week!
First order of business - the challenge webpages are not up to date.
I'm sorry, I'm working on the problem. It's not laziness, it's a technical glitch. My new laptop is wonderful. I'm just trying to get some of the problems straightened out. When I first put the wireless router in, before the laptop came, suddenly I couldn't access newsgroups anymore. Got that fixed - yay!. Then the laptop came, and I couldn't get it to communicate with the other computers or print. Ugh. Got that fixed - yay! Then I couldn't install the program I use for doing webpages, had misplaced the key code. Ugh. Got that fixed - yay! Remembered that I hadn't updated the form pages for the challenges. Oh no! Updated the pages, went to upload them, but ftp won't work on the laptop for some reason. I did manage to find another way to get those 2 pages online, but the laptop does not want to FTP. It will connect to the server, but there's some problem with the server talking back to the laptop, it won't even give a listing of the files in the directory. UGH! That one still hasn't been fixed. My birthday was last week, and DFi came into town. Of course that then meant dinners out, and he wanted me to bake a pie for him, and my mother insisted that I had to have a birthday cake. Surprisingly I discovered that I didn't gain anything when I weighed in this morning. DFi is moving later this week, so I drove back to Edmonton with him yesterday. LONG day in a car, and the primary foods consumed were gummi bears and twizzlers. Although on *two* of the stops for gas DFi did pick up - potato chips. I'm proud to say I only had a few, and there are still 2 bags (out of 4) unopened. I also drank 2.5 litres of water, a Tim Horton's Iced Capp (made with 1% chocolate milk) and a coffee. I did some of the driving this time, and I can now wthout hesitation say that I truly hate driving a stick shift. When DFi signed the lease for the house he's moving into - which was last month - I told him then that he should start packing up some of the smaller things that he wouldn't use. He gets the keys to the house on Wednesday, we're doing some renovating on Thursday (taking up the carpeting in the bedroom and putting in hardwood tiles) and then the move itself is Friday. On Saturday, while at my place, we were reviewing the schedule and DFi says "oh, and we should pack on Thursday". Yep, that's right, hasn't started packing yet. And when he thinks we're going to do that on Thursday when we have to do the carpeting/flooring, I don't know. So packing is now scheduled for tomorrow. And so that I can use the laptop here, we're getting a wireless router tonight! Which means I'll be jumping through the same hoops as before in order to get it to work properly on another network. So the summary of all that is - it's going to be a busy week, and you probably won't see me around much. But I'll be lurking. Please continue to post/email your challenge stats, and I'll get the website updated as soon as I'm able to FTP again. Amberle3 |

Just to add something...
DFi has almost no food in the apartment. I've got a box of granola bars and the leftover gummi bears for breakfast/lunch! Ack! Also, I've just discovered that someone in a nearby apartment must have a wireless network because I booted up the laptop and lo and behold I'm online with it. So at least I can get online with my own computer now, and maybe I can try and fix the FTP problem today while DFi is at work.
