meal planning
I'd like to plan my diet out for a week, and if it is possible, pack up and
box a weeks worth of food. I've been thinking about it for a couple days. It doesn't sound too difficult, I just have to play with the numbers on a spreadsheet. (I'm a calorie counter.) There are some complexities though, especially if I want to pre-pack everything. Like salad, for example, that won't keep for a week in the fridge. Actually, a lot of things won't keep in the fridge. I'm just looking for some tips. The thought of spending a couple hours on Sunday and putting everything together for a week is alluring. Has anybody worked out a good system for this? Also, are there any good books on the topic that aren't portion control books? (Portion control meaning the physical size of the food as opposed to weights and calorie counts. That doesn't work for me.) |

One can also cook up stuff and freeze it in portion sized containers, then thaw as you go. I use ZipLoc containers, the squareish 2.5 cup ones. I put my protein in first, then some baby carrots, red pepper, cucumbers, onion slice and spinach and pack the spinach in fairly tightly, then jam a lid on. This seems to stay pretty fresh for up to 3 days. To eat, I dump it on a plate, possibly add a tablespoon of nuts or seeds, dress. -- Cynthia 262/238.5/152 |
