Six-pack abs possible?

I'm 38, 5'7", and presently weigh 240 as of this morning. I was 290 earlier this year and have been steady losing with a combination of cardio and weights...more cardio than weights at this point. Question: is a six-pack of abs possible for me? I still have a long way to go, but I'm doing well and have made some major lifestyle changes (diabetes is a great motivator!) I always set big goals and accomplish them...just wondering if getting down to 10-12% bodyfat to see the abs is too big a goal. Your biggest challenge would probably be in keeping the six-pack. For a real quest, try for an eight-pack! BTW, I am large-framed for my size...a tape measure around my chest on the outside of my arms is about 25". I haven't had my body-fat checked in a while...I'm sure it's still a big number at this point. Thanks. Haven't you ever seen that TV show "The Biggest Loser"? These things can definitely be done, but the real problem is staying in tip-top condition. BTW, just as an FYI, I'm also 240 pounds right now and have a four- pack at somewhere around 20% bodyfat, give or take a little. There are people who weigh 50 pounds less than me but look a good roly-poly hundred pounds more! I suspect bodyfat percentage, while a much better figure than a simple bathroom scale number, could also be deceptive like that somehow.... |

Six-pack abs possible?
Question: is a six-pack of abs possible for me? Six pack abs is a question of body-fat. You need 10% for them to be visible. I'm just starting week 4 of this: http://www.iwantsixpackabs.com/my_video_journal.html I don't expect to get ripped because it requires a bodybuilder's diet, which isn't worth it to me. But after only 3 weeks of the program, I feel every muscle in my body tightening up, and that IS worth the effort. |

Unless you're under the age of 23 or a professional football player, it's probably not gonna happen....best you just buy some bigger shirts... -- We must change the way we live, or the climate will do it for us. |

I lift regularly *and* eat like an idiot. Sure, I have a pretty puffy mid-section but my enormous ass (in a good way), thighs, shoulders, biceps, and chest help detract from that...somewhat. As I tell to the ladies, I have a six pack, I just keep it in the mini fridge. |

Sure you can, but not each kind of sit ups will help and once you get it, you just need to be very concistent in keeping it. Six-pack abs possible?
to put it simple: yes a 6 pack is possible for you....Definitely. the
key? patience and persistence. You have to keep at it dont give up on it. I made a blog to help people like you you could check it out if you want http://superrippedabs.blogspot.com/ You have to remember that you cant expect to get a 6 pack if your eating crap or if you only do your abs excersises a couple times a week. You really got to be persistant and try and work at them almost everyday. Hang in there the end results are well worth it. ...Expecially come summer time (: |
