Well is does involve oats, so it's not all that different coming from
me. What is different is that instead of the microwave, I decided to
use my homemade solar oven. A photo of one in the local newspaper
inspired me, so I checked out some plans on the web, and made mine in
about a hour. The oats have been cooking now for about an hour. I used
steel cut oats with the same amount of water (cold) and put them in
the solar oven. It's pretty hot and sunny in S. Central Texas today
and 45 min. later the oats were moving about. When I just checked,
they were actually boiling very slowly, so unless it clouds up, they
should be ready to go in another hour or so. dkw

Solar ovens work okay in spite of cloud cover. Ultravoilet or
whatever makes it through the clouds. Same deal as getting
a sunburn on a cloudy day.
