Atkins Diet and Slimming Tablets
Dear All,
Have started the Atkins Diet and am pleased with the weight loss and lack of hunger. This is one of several diets I have been on, and due to serial dieting I have accumulated some diet tablets called Xenecol. These are fat blockers in effect and the main side effect is an unpleasant looking stool (sorry about the graphic description here). My question is whether it is wise or safe to combine the Atkins Diet with something like Xenecol? Regards Justin |

No - you don't want to block the fat, that's a big part of what's keeping you satiated and not hungry. And carb blockers aren't necessary and from all I've read don't work anyway. There's no reason to take any weight-loss pills at all, in conjunction with Atkins - take the supplements recommended, such as a multivitamin, fish or flaxseed oil, and fiber supplement (such as psyllium husk) if you're not getting enough fiber via what you eat. The point of this isn't to lose weight as fast as possible - the point is to take it off and _keep_ it off. If you want to lose a little faster, get more exercise instead. If you haven't read it then you should. The easiest way to fail on low carb is to try and wing it. If you can't afford the book try the website. http://atkins.com/ There's also a huge amount of info contained in the newsgroup FAQ. http://www.grossweb.com/asdlc/faq.htm In a nutshell when you don't eat many carbs your body uses mainly fat for energy, both body and dietary. If you block the fat........ -- Jeri 265/189/120 Atkins since 11/5/01 "Whether you think you can or think you can't, you're right." --Henry Ford |

If your on Atkins, you will answer your own question. I've never been on a
more satisfying meal plan. I've taken the Atkins vitamins since day one, but realize that it is the low carb diet that is killing my appetite, I'd hate for any diet drug to mess with this natural way of reducing my appetite. Why take them? Throw them out. -- Diane Atkins since 12/4/2003 234/211/150 5"8 "Roger Zoul" wrote in message ... I wouldn't take Xenecol if you paid me. I suggest you continue on you
Atkins. You state you are losing weight and are not hungry. What more do you want? It sounds to me like you don't have a problem with the diet, but the problem lies with how much patience you have. You are thinking of taking Xenecol to speed the process of losing weight would be my guess. Why else would you take it if you are losing already? I suggest you need to look at this diet in a longer term point of view. Relax and enjoy the fact that you are losing weight and are not hungry. So it may take you longer than you want. Oh well, join the club. From what I am reading here you are going to crash diet and gain it back anyway, because you are not looking to take your time and do it right. Relax and don't take pills that may upset your balance you have now with not being hungry and losing weight. Take some time, lose weight and keep it off for good. Crash diet mentality is not a good one to have unless you want to yo-yo your weight around, IMHO.
