lol No dear, :-)
Have you ever tried black soy beans?

I don't think so.

I find them to be very flavorful!
Far more than pinto beans......

Lima, pinto, refried, whatever kind come in bean salad . . . those are
the beans I've had. Didn't like any of them. Don't like peas either.

I don't think I need any new foods anyway.

Mmmmmm... I'm adventurous and am always on the lookout for "new" low
carb foods to add variety to my diet!

I try to try at least one new food everytime I go to the oriental
market... even if most of the label is in chinese. G

I can often look up the food on the 'net to find out more about it.
Veiled lady mushrooms were one of those.

I also am using more and more dried ****ake mushrooms!

I've discovered a whole new and wonderful world of foods I'd never tried
before, just out of sheer boredom I think! I like it. :-)

Cheers!

No. They'll be nice and firm in your mouth. (Can we say that in a family
NG?)

I use them in place of other beans as a direct substitute.

So I make hummus, bean soup, Cuban-style black beans, non-Texas-style
chili with beans, Cincinnati-style 5-way chili, baked beans with ham
hocks, bean salads...

Any bean recipe...

Looks like it's time to do more research then, thanks!
Due to the starch (and fart factor), I'd never been much of a bean
eater... even tho' I like them.

Sausage Soup Olé by MarieAnn

1 lb. smoked sausage(cut in 1 in. slices, or diced, as you prefer) 12
1 can(14-15 oz.)stewed tomatoes 27-4=23
1 can(14-15 oz.) sliced or diced tomatoes in juice 14
1 can(15-16 oz.)pinto beans, undrained 65-20=45 You can use black soy
beans and reduce the carbs here to 1 net carb..
1 can(14 oz.) chicken broth
1/2 of a medium head of cabbage, chopped fairly large 25-10=15
1 Tbs. chili powder 4-3=1
(2 tsp. sugar or substitute) 8 if used
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced 0
1 medium size onion,chopped 9-2=7
2 cloves garlic, minced 1

TOTAL 168-39=129, makes approx 3 quarts, 6 2-cup servings. Per serving
426 cals, 29 g fat, 21 net carbs-14 with the soy beans, 17 g protein.

Put all ingredients in soup pot. This will look to thick to be soup, but
will become less thick as cabbage cooks down. Lower heat and simmer from 30
to 60 minutes, depending on how soft you prefer your cabbage.

Ok Mr. Smartass, what is YOUR theory as to why sprouted beans would be
better than dried beans???

On the contrary oh cynical one... ;-)

My old fattening diet was very limited. The typical american high starch
diet! Always had bread, potatoes, rice or pasta with nearly every meal.
Meat was part of it but not as much as it should have been, and fresh
green, low carb veggies were not a common item in my menu!

I've learned that there is a LOT more that you CAN eat eating low carb
than you can't!

There are numerous healthy and delicious low carb foods out there that
remain unexplored by the majority...

I enjoy eating now more than I ever did (and cooking as well) and I
continue to lose weight as long as I limit total calories and keep the
carb count low.

I got fat because I did NOT eat a very large variety!

Black soy beans lack the starch (soups made with them won't get thick)
and the oligosaccharides (complex sugars that intestinal flora digest
and convert part of to gases) that cause the tuba-like expressions.
