Default Calorie intake.

Hi.

Can anyone give my some info on what calorie intake I should be aiming for?
I don't think I can use the same advice that is given for a low fat diet can
I?
I'm 250pounds and 5 foot 7 ins.

Been on the induction phase for 4 weeks and my weight has been going up this
week.

Thanks for your help.
Ian

Hi Ian,
A place to start would be 10 to 12 calories per pound of current body
weight. If you simply can't lose at that amount you can cut it down to 8
calories per pound but you shouldn't go below that. It's better for your
metabolism if you increase exercise rather than cut down drastically on
calories.

Hi Jeri.

I'm looking at around 2000 - 2500 then. I will keep a watch on it and see
how it goes. My first 3 weeks I was steadily loosing weight, but this last
week it seems to have gone up. I think I've have seen a few posts where
this happens to others as well.

I will keep with it though!

Thanks,
Ian

You're right. There is normally a pause in weight loss after the first few
weeks of induction. I think it's the body's way of catching up after such
rapid loss. If your weight is increasing it might be that you're retaining
some water. Keep an eye on how much salt and processed foods you're eating.
Glad to hear you're sticking with it. )

I think you've gotten the calorie hints already, so just to ease your mind:

It's quite normal... you've lost ok(or better than ok!!!!) and sometimes the
body tries to catch up a bit.. you'll be losing again soon. Might be careful
with cheese, salty stuff and do drink your water!!

Hi Anette.

I don't really have anything salty now, and I drink loads. I did have quite
a bit of cheese, but I'm sure I have seen somewhere you can have 4 oz a
day - I had around 2-3 oz a day. Out of interest, why does cheese make a
much of a difference?

Thanks,
Ian

I don't know why cheese is bad for some people... originally it was said
just to stall some women, but the hubby here also got in trouble with it and
I think I saw someone else post about it recently.
