Grrrr. I have become pretty good at altering my now-too-big clothes so
that I can still wear them, but the black faux leather pants from Lane
Bryant are beyond my skills. To alter them enough to fit now, the belt
loops would have to be moved, and they are quite intricately attached, the
end is actually UNDER the damn waistband. I took them in as much as I
could while leaving the loops in place, and they are now small enough to
keep from sliding off me but they are still too baggy and the crotch is way
too long. Lowering the waistband and shortening the zipper and moving the
belt loops is beyond my skills, plus even after that is all done it looks
like the front pockets would be practically non-existant. And with that
pleather material, taking out seams runs too much risk of poking holes in
it. I'm just going to have to get new ones, but I can't find any yet!
Checked Wal-mart, TJ-Maxx, and Marhsall's. I hope they haven't gone out
of style, that would suck.

Ask yourself this, "Am I in love with these pants?" If the answer is
"yes" avail yourself of a tailor, and find out his/her professional
opinion as to whether they can be sized down further. If the tailor
can do it, s/he will. All the problems you have mentioned a tailor,
no doubt, has confronted before. If the answer is "no" then either
give them to Goodwill, or sell them.

I have a couple of tee shirts that I bought just before I started
losing weight (bought in April and May, started losing weight in
June). They are incredibly cute, and fanish, and I'll be hanged if
I'm going to lose the shirts. Right now they're too baggy to wear,
but they're too new, too fun, and too cute to part with. They will
see a tailor's shop after I get down to a more reasonable weight. So
will the very high quality clothes I've bought over the years.

I'm sorry to be whiny about this, but that's the one downside to losing
weight, imo, having to buy new clothes. I know most women love it, but I
think it's a hassle and I'm getting sick of it.

Go to Ross, that way you don't feel so bad when you lose out of the
clothes, because you didn't pay that much for them in the first place.
:-)

I'm just starting the downward spiral of losing out of clothes. I'm
more than a little irritated that I'm falling out of the jeans I
bought less a month ago. God, it's like being a kid again, only in
reverse. You know, the times when you'd get a bunch of new outfits,
and then outgrow them in a month.

Is Ross anything like Loehmann's? Because I tried there, and sorry, but
even if they were originally $200, I still won't pay $150 for a pair of

Ah, no, not by a long shot. Most I've seen any leather/pleather
things go for is about $30. But I've never seen pleather pants there,
jackets, yes, pants, no. That doesn't mean anything, the stock
changes so often that you just have to go in and look on a regular
basis. It's more like TJ Maxx, and Marshall's.

I suggest it mainly because clothes are cheap there. I can't stand
the idea of paying a fortune for clothes I'm going to be out of in a
couple of months.

By the by, I've seen your photos, I'm guessing you may be small enough
to go to Hot Topic. I occasionally shop their sister store for larger
women, Torrid. Lots of fun stuff, some weird stuff, and some
unapologetically fannish stuff. Either store will more than likely
have pleather.

That's a good idea. I don't think we have Torrid here, but there's a Hot
Topic in a mall near here. I'm not sure, but I think they only go up to a
size 13. I can squeeze into a 13 in some things, so maybe in a month or
two I can shop there.

Try it now, what the heck? What have you got to lose, except a little
bit of your time? Besides, I think they may go up to 16. And they
have some fun jewelery, too. So if I'm wrong about the sizes, it
doesn't have to be a total loss, shopping wise. ;-)

Good luck,
