went lowcarb food shopping today, yet nervous
Hey ya!
Well I bought some lowcarb foods today at some specialty lowcarb store we have. Since I am close to the end, I decided it was time for a few things I have been missing (cereal and pasta is what I bought). I got bran crispbread as well. It has three carbs total per piece and has 3 carbs of fiber as well. So, that would make the effective carb count 0, correct? I have known this, but seeing as I ate 11 pieces, I am concerned it could have an adverse effect. Yeah i know I only have 1 lb left, but this is some of the stuff I am going to eat on my low carb maintanance plan. Think I am okay? Thanks, Kerri -- ***Kerri*** 154/121/120 5'2" 6/10/03 |

I'm not near where you are yet, but I think any kind of food that triggers unplanned binges is something that maybe should be avoided. It's not just about numbers of carbs, right? It's about having control over food and eating. -- -Michelle Levin (Luna) http://www.mindspring.com/~lunachick http://www.mindspring.com/~designbyluna |

Thanks, Kerri You might want to double check the math and make sure they didn't already subtract out the fiber. I may be wrong but I'm rather skeptical that it has 0 effective carbs. |

I'd go slowly on the cereal and pasta....if you go back to eating those,
you'll have a hard time maintaining your fab weight loss. And if you didn't eat too many calories, then any weight gain would likely be water weight that you can lose fairly quickly. Usually, overdoing it for a single meal doesn't make much of a lasting difference. Repeat performances do, however :: :: -- :: ***Kerri*** :: 154/121/120 :: 5'2" :: 6/10/03 |

It was not listed as a lowcarb food even though it was in the same section.
So I don't know if the 3carbs were added or extra...who know? They were not that huge, so it was not like I ate tons of food but I tend to worry about how I ate after I ate. My intentions with the cereal and pasta is to eat it very slowly. I am going to eat two servings of the pasta on Friday which will be 10 carbs. I am not sure when I'll eat the cereal, as I am somewhat concerned about those crackers, so tomorrow and Thursday, I am going to eat the way I usually do Thanks!! Kerri |

Just make sure you know how many carbs per serving there are --- as you seem to have done.... and you'll be fine! You get to enjoy yourself sometimes... |

Presubtracted fiber -- you ate 33, maybe even 38g effective carb (since they can round down a half gram). Even plain bran is not carb-free. -- jamie ) "There's a seeker born every minute." |
