Just thought I would post about another side benefit to this WOE.

Due to economic circumstances, I am applying for another job. Saw the
posting in the local paper and although I am employed now, it is in the
forestry industry which we all know is not exactly a growth (ha!ha!) area.

Anyway, in the past, I would have talked myself out of putting in an
application for a variety of reasons, but one I never acknowledged was the
concern of the interview. I think we all have to be honest about the
discrimination that is made against 'fat' people and combining that with my
age, it was just too daunting.

To get to the point, it wasn't until after I had e-mailed my application,
that I realized that I don't fear an interview as much as before. Now I
can't do much about my age (although I'm getting my hair dyed today ) but
the success I have had so far on this WOE has obviously already boosted my
self-esteem.

Just another benefit to sticking to this plan that I had never considered
before.

Yaaaayyyy !!! Brenda..
Congrats on applying.. that's always a big step.

I'll be crossing my fingers for you.
btw.. love the little rib about the forestry industry not being a
'growth' area. )

Self confidence is a wonderful benefit . I always wonder where along
the path, my being heavy and not being able to stick to a diet.. got
in the way of achieving my goals and dreams.

I went to a school BBQ in the earlier part of September.. and had
people remark to others what a wonderful outgoing talkative person I
am . I found that so funny... because i've been to the BBQ the past 3
years.. and was never even talked to or noticed at all..

I attribute it to the fact that I feel better about myself and don't
see the need to hide from others now. Who knows .. could all be in
my head too.. LOL

Best of Luck on the job..
Let us all know )

It's not in your head - unfortunately being overweight can sometimes make us
part of the "ghost' part of a gathering. People can actually look surprised
if something halfway intelligent or funny comes out of your mouth!

Anyway, I'm sure that from your posts, you are a lot of fun to be around.
And don't let those dreams and plans slip away. If not today, then when?

(Not too sure if I even want the job I applied for as it is less money, but
it's for the government and boy, do I want to be working somewhere with a
pension)

Hey! Congratulations on sending in the application!

I know exactly what you mean - I had the courage to apply, got the job,
and am un-afraid when working with the most brutal of subjects: middle
school and high school students.

So far, so good. Stressful because of the change, but good, very good.

Yeah - this would be working with college students. Just a touch less
brutal.
