Thanks Catherine. When you're right you're right. I'm OK with

RAFL week 9 - Prairie Roots
Thanks Fred. Your common-sense talk helps. I have set my goals and my
mini-goals. I just have to get to 157, then 155, then 152, then 150, and so on. I'm disappointed about the bike and reminded the bike shop today that first I'd been promised the bike on Tuesday because they thought they had the fenders in stock; when I called on Tuesday, I was told I'd have the bike before the weekend. I also told them that I expected to have the bike to use for bike commuting due to the transit strike and so if the bike wasn't ready on Monday as newly promised, I would be very unhappy and not eager to do future business with them. As much as I like supporting small businesses, sometimes the big guys take customer service more seriously. I like your idea about their contacting another shop. I may call tomorrow and suggest it. Linda P On Sat, 06 Mar 2004 18:35:36 -0800, Fred wrote: You have been doing real well and a week of Maintenance seems reasonable. But suggest appropriately you expected the bike and the transit strike makes it even more important that they move on it, including contacting another shop who may provide them the parts (fenders, was it?). DH sometimes does stirfry sort of things in an electric skillet, Lee
Prairie Roots wrote in message ... Thanks Julie. My routines are going to be even more disrupted next week as the portapotty gets set up in the back yard and the dumpster is moved alongside the front curb. Going from a one-bathroom house to a no-bathroom house should prove adventuresome. Figuring out alternate ways to prepare food will be challenging too although not as bad since I tend to use my Foreman grill, my microwave, and my slow cooker for most of my cooking needs. It's the stir-fry stuff that will have to wait until construction is done. No bike yet. And we had more snow yesterday and rain today. It isn't really biking weather yet. I found them at Kohl's, believe Penneys may also carry them. I saw the lee's at
kohls.com, have them in petites. G The levi's are tougher though, because of those stupid style numbers. 515 sticks in my mind as the ones I like ... but might be 505. I have no clue! LOL I saw at Costco today, Gloria Vanderbuilt capris - looked really cute. I didn't buy any though, didn't know if they had a place to try things on and have no clue as to what size to purchase. I remember those remodeling days. I couldn't decide on kitchen flooring, and desperately needed something as the underlayment really didn't make much of a statement (or one that I wanted). So I opted for extremely cheap for the interim. I think we put something down for about $150 ... took me over 2 years before I finally found something I felt I could live with and was willing to put more money into. Renovating is fun, but also very frustrating. Joyce On Sat, 06 Mar 2004 12:32:27 -0600, Prairie Roots wrote: Thanks for the tips on jeans. I'm gathering that you and I might have similar body shapes. I like both Lee and Levi jeans but can't seem to find anything other than relaxed fit. Since I HATE that clown pants effect, I stopped looking. But maybe I'll snoop around and see if I can locate the ones you mentioned and give 'em a try. For now, the Gloria Vanderbilt's are doing me just fine. Between the fuss at work and the commotion at home trying to pick floor coverings and backsplash tiles and countertops and mirrors and lighting and bathroom fixtures and accessories, well, it's all fun but my brain is getting clogged. Focus, I need focus. On Sat, 06 Mar 2004 12:21:29 -0600, Joyce wrote: I tend to have the same thing, hard to stay focused 100% of the time when everyone is fussing over us. I have a tough time with jeans too, had someone the other day tell me to try the junior sizing (yeah, right, sure - not gonna happen unless I want to totally humiliate myself). Relaxed fit is too big in the legs, hips and thighs - look like clown pants on me. I have a pair of carpenter pants on today, size 6 and very baggy. I could take a 4 in these and probably still have a bit of room to spare - they don't come in 4's. In lower rise jeans I seem to need a smaller size than in regular cut higher waist - the waist is too snug for my liking and I do like to be able to breath. I haven't tried the Gloria Vanderbilt jeans, always made the assumption that those *designer* names wouldn't work for me - maybe I will give them a try as I saw some cute capri's in a sales ad this week. I found a new one that does fit me well though, only ones in the Lee brand that aren't baggy in the legs ... they have a *one true fit* or something like that - fits me very nicely ... everywhere. Same with the Levi Nouveau but I forget which number (why do they assign the styles numbers???). The levi's have a little stretch to them, great in the waist but tend to get a tad baggy in the seat after a few hours. Oh well, I like the baggy better than the constant snug I used to deal with. g Shirts are an entirely different story with me - range anywhere from a small to a large, depending on the store and brand. I have no clue. Joyce On Sat, 06 Mar 2004 11:13:37 -0600, Prairie Roots wrote: Thanks Joyce. I do have two pairs of jeans from the gap, but they don't seem to fit as well as
these others I have found. They fit *ok* and are acceptable ... except for the price. G Shirts at the Gap are definitely made for younger females, those with little to no chest factor. G Even my 105 pound daughter has to take a medium there. They seem to be cut small and short ... not good options for women with longer body lengths. I'm a pain when it comes to issues like this (with the bike). I probably would go
in and tell them that if the bike was not deliverable by such and such a date, then I wanted my money back as they broke their end of the agreement. What you suggest is what I will do if the bike isn't ready as
promised: "Monday. Definitely. Tuesday at the latest." They've offered to let me take the bike without fenders but as sloppy as it is here right now with fresh snow over melting snow, the fenders are an important feature this time of year. I really don't want to ride it without fenders. Maybe I'm just being picky, but I wouldn't enjoy riding the bike while getting a black wet stripe down my back. I think I can be patient for another day. In the meantime I can "Walk Away the Pounds" and use my stability ball etc. On Sun, 07 Mar 2004 03:19:15 -0600, Joyce wrote: I'm a pain when it comes to issues like this (with the bike). that I bought specifically as a NSV clothing shirt. I paid $1.99 for it. I do hope to get into it at some point, it's an XL. Julie "Joyce" wrote in message ... I do have two pairs of jeans from the gap, but they don't seem to fit as well as these others I have found. They fit *ok* and are acceptable ... except for the price. G Shirts at the Gap are definitely made for younger females, those with little to no chest factor. G Even my 105 pound daughter has to take a medium there. They seem to be cut small and short ... not good options for women with longer body lengths. Joyce On Sat, 6 Mar 2004 15:01:04 -0600, "skiur" wrote: Have you been to the Gap? I know they are more expensive, but if they fit right.... "Joyce" wrote in message .. . I tend to have the same thing, hard to stay focused 100% of the time when everyone is fussing over us. I find I kind of relax just a little too much. G But, that's ok too - sometimes you just have to relax, as long as we don't make it a forever thing. I got a lot of compliments and attention at work this week regarding my weight loss, people saying things about how confident I appear, that I have a more positive attitude, and just plain look great. I think my head got a little puffed up from all the compliments and that's what started all the other crazy thinking. It's hard to find jeans that fit me. The ubiquitous relaxed fit jeans don't work for me; I carry my weight in my tummy, not my hips and thighs. Of all the brands I've tried, Gloria Vanderbilt classic fit jeans fit me best. I too like a little stretch in my jeans, makes bending over not just a breathtaking experience. LOL But couldn't find any this shopping trip and the non-stretch jeans don't cut off my oxygen supply. Thanks again for your encouragement. Linda P On Sat, 06 Mar 2004 09:58:12 -0600, Joyce wrote: Hey, taking a week of following the program and maintaining is fantastic! Call it practice for the future, you've proved to yourself that it can be done. Congrats on holding firm this week. G I think both times we've replaced the sink, we ended up at Builders Square (or similar home improvement store) and looking at their discards (something that someone else ordered and couldn't/wouldn't use for one reason or another). Many times they may have had a little chip or scratch in the underside - nothing noticeable or functionable - but always at a great reduction and usable. Might be something to think about or look into. What a great NSV, fitting easily into those size 10 jeans, smaller tops and much smaller undergarments. I love the clothing victories (yet still hate to shop). Where did you ever find jeans without stretch though? I swear that seems to be all that is being made these days! BUT ... don't write them off dear. They are wonderfully comfortable, and I've found rather flattering. They hug ya in all those places we didn't use to like being hugged. G Fight back with those other personalities of yours that are currently letting themselves be heard. Do not let them put a damper on your motivation or spirit. You know why you should go further, just have to make sure you are louder than those other voices. C'mon Linda (wow, was THAT hard for me to say), you can do it! RAFL week 9 - Prairie Roots
Good point on the local sloppiness. We don't have snow anymore, but is very wet
and muddy. While riding around for pleasure that stripe might not be too bad to deal with, using the fenderless bike for transportation to and from employment - might not leave you with the *look* you are trying to achieve. g I don't think you are being picky at all. You want what you want, what you paid for, and expected it to be delivered when it was promised. You paid for that service and are entitled to receive it. Give 'em hell girl. They are a service oriented business, might as well let them know that you are not happy with their service so far. I still haven't made the purchase of a stability ball - might put that on my birthday wish list. G For now, the weights are taunting me from nearby ... gotta do me some larnin' first. Joyce On Sun, 07 Mar 2004 08:12:33 -0600, Prairie Roots wrote: What you suggest is what I will do if the bike isn't ready as promised: "Monday. I probably would go in and tell them that if the bike was not deliverable by such and such a date, then I wanted my money back as they broke their end of the agreement. I'd also let them know that I would be purchasing it at another store that could deliver as agreed. That's just me though. It also depends on if you can get this same bike elsewhere. G What are the possibilities of them giving you the bike NOW, then calling you when they get the fenders in? This way you could still enjoy the bike, take it in to have fenders installed ... while you wait of course. Joyce On Sat, 06 Mar 2004 23:55:22 -0600, Prairie Roots wrote: Thanks Fred. Your common-sense talk helps. I have set my goals and my mini-goals. But do not deceive yourself about what you want your ultimate goal to be. Figure it out with certainty and then make the decisions that accompany that goal. Sorry about the bike delay. Sometimes parts are a problem with backorder. But suggest appropriately you expected the bike and the transit strike makes it even more important that they move on it, including contacting another shop who may provide them the parts (fenders, was it?). Shops usually know one another. But also CONGRATULATIONS on all of those clothing victories. That is phenomenal. RAFL week 9 - Prairie Roots
Hey, I did something like that, too. Only it was about $20.00 worth of the cheapest home depot linoleum. It was a matter of my dad coming to visit, the wood flooring taking too long to find a contractor slot and then me choosing the wood and covering the mess the rest of the remodeling had created on the old flooring. It helped as I realized that too light a color was not a good idea for a kitchen floor - showed every blade of grass tracked in from mowing, all water droplets, etc. The nice grain and color of oak flooring hides a multitude of sins and grass clippings (G) Joyce On Sat, 06 Mar 2004 12:32:27 -0600, Prairie Roots wrote: Thanks for the tips on jeans.
